This is incredible! Is there a way to export the animation? Currently, the only way I know how is using the "Animate" option on a number slider.

Can the hight defined by the curve? I have a curve projected on a slope. I want to create stairs with that curve ?
@NickDrian
@NickDrian Год назад
yea, you could take the curve, divide it into points, and use the tangent at those points to create the stairs. If you take the tangent and zero out the z coordinate and rotate 90 decrees around the z axis, you will have a vector. you can use the point and the vector to create a line that is the edge of a stair. good luck

Can I make a BOOLEAN difference (cut) but animating it? Like a sphere that revolves around another sphere and this one gets cut? Yeah it's a weird kind of spherical gear.

Hello Nick. Thank you so much for the tutoriel. I only have one question. In the part where we wanted to loft the steps together, is there any way to tell GH if for point on curve for each curve , the z values are equal, loft corresponding curves. No idea how python works inside GH but maybe that'll be a lot easier. Thanks bro. Brilliant work. You're helping lots of newbies here.

THIS LESSON IS the central key of understanding grasshopper 3D. This provides everything about bijection, surjection and injection of functions. It's all about the data tree, the manipulation of lists, the data matching and how data flows in our grasshopper visual scripting definition. I have three years intensely using Grasshopper 3D. This is THE main event of the program. Grasshopper IS a platform that allows simulation, modeling, logic, data structure and pipelining in one software LINKING other softwares for drawing and modeling.

Hi, what if I have to do a random generation on a defined surface?
@NickDrian
@NickDrian 2 года назад
You can use populate geometry to create point field on the surface. Then randomly move the points and connect them back into a surface using a Delaunay mesh. Good luck!

I go this too, using a spiral for the original curve
@NickDrian
@NickDrian 7 месяцев назад
oops, just saw this. Use a planar curve (flat / 2d). the elevation is added in the grasshopper script, the curve must be flat for the stairs to be flat. It is possible to make this work with a non planar curve, by providing an xy plane node to the plane input, but I dont know why you would use a non planan curve?

Excellent tutorial series, thank you! I was just yesterday goofing around trying to create a similar random terrain generator, but you took it to the next level! Thanks for sharing really useful tips along the way with very clear explanations. About the color; I'd like to see how to project a defined color value to a defined height coordinate. Say, I'd like to assign a particular shade of green to the slice of terrain which Z coordinate is between 0.50-1.00, and then the shade would change based on it's Z value. However this color value should be constant and based on the world coordinates not only the object's own range of height. Also would like to see how to add a procedural texture to this terrain generator and maybe roads, even bridges, why not a urban terrain generator, after all! I hope you keep creating these tuts, subscribed!
