Finally someone understands why I do these ‘little things’ instead of telling me that’s not what I should do. It makes my brain feel and function better. I’ve not been doing this as much because I hear peoples’ voices in my head saying I’m wasting time or procrastinating on bigger things. I’m having a hard time getting back to ‘myself’ because of these voices and don’t know who I am anymore. I know that sounds more convoluted than I should be but it has changed me so I don’t totally recognize myself anymore. This concept extends to other areas . . .
hello, David Allen as well, David Allen the Second in fact. Not to be confused with JR. David Allen the first is not my father. No joke lol, just sharing :3
I appreciate you folks posting this, but it would have been helpful to see Ana Maria's slides that she was referring to. Also, the first 9 minutes of this 38-minute video were exposition, followed by 2 minutes of the content overview, and then followed by a minute of tools we'll need to experience the content. For folks watching this who want to begin with the assessment of your system, start at 12:05. I love GTD and appreciate content about it, but it seems to me that very little thought was put into the posting of this video; ironic given that the very content of this video is supposed to be about "optimization".
This video is a preview of what you can get from GTD Connect. The link to the complete webinar, with slides is available in the description. You can even sign up with a free trial. Hope this helps.
Por que no permiten poner subtitulos en ninguno de vuestros videos? Realmente es importante para mi y varias personas de habla hispana lo que David Allen hace. Ojala cambien esta actitud. Gracias
Would've been good to have "preview" in the title or something - I get that this is here to try to advertise GTD Connect but I wouldn't have listened if I knew ahead of time it was going to cut off before actually tackling anything mentioned in the description on-screen
Thank you for the heads-up - since the “video” (only audio) is 20 min. long & I didn’t read the description this time, either, I thought it might be the whole webinar. I’m disappointed, too.
David, I would be super interested in seeing an interview or conversation between you and Dr. Judson Brewer in discussing the relationship of his brain science-based Unwinding Anxiety methodology, mindfulness, and your amazing GTD work! I read your book years ago, but it wasn't until I used UA and unwound my anxiety about looking at my reality that I was finally able to start the GTD process with a feeling of flow. I now have a curious hope about engaging with my work and life appropriately. I think there is a powerful connection between what both you gentlemen have to share with the world. 🎉
I'm from China, and my English is not very good. I'm glad to see you add subtitles to the video to facilitate my understanding. I bought 3 of your books and have been practicing them, which is very helpful to me. Thank you.
Thanks David! These little snippets are great ‘top ups’ for long time GTD’ers like me, who just need a reminder on the greatest hits. Stay awesome fella.
Such a timely reminder that thoughtful consideration of our belongings and decisions is key to maintaining clarity and efficiency. Taking a few seconds to assess and act on items can save us from feeling overwhelmed later on.
The value of writing things down extends far beyond mere documentation. It enhances memory, promotes organization, reduces stress, and serves as a powerful tool for both personal and professional growth. Wonderful episode!
David Allen's perspective on managing stress by feeling good about what you're not doing is both refreshing and enlightening. I particularly resonate with the idea of renegotiating agreements, as it emphasizes the importance of aligning tasks with personal priorities. Allen's insights remind us to embrace the present moment and prioritize tasks based on what truly matters to us. Thanks for sharing!
I want to say thing you. Your productivity system really works .Only thing i am trying is to apply it through using google keep.Google Tasks .Google Calener . Can you also make a video explaining it using Google. It would be much appreciated
@@gtd thank you for the reply! I would like to rate and comment on your audio episodes in RU-vid Music. Unfortunately that is not possible as long as you do not publish those audio episodes in your RU-vid Podcast feed.
Same, but I've resisted Braintoss as it doesn't work without internet connection, requires Braintoss and your own email server to be working, has the resultant privacy issues and isn't currently wearable. The wearable concept of collection is new to me, but both Apple and Samsung allow you to speak your mind and it becomes a task that can directly or indirectly (via integration apps like Zapier or IFTTT) go into a system like Things3 or a cross platform GTD system like Everdo. Being able to speak a thought wearing a watch (or glasses) while driving, carrying things in both hands, while wearing gloves, when your hands are wet or dirty, in the pitch black (night ops/not wanting to ruin your night vision/circadian rhythm)...it's just that extra friction reduction vs a phone. The voice task capability is also built into the phone software, so I don't have to worry about the pricing of Braintoss. Vono is a direct competitor to Braintoss but has the same issues.
