Taking a creative deep dive behind the scenes of live TV!
From the Eurovision Song Contest, the Olympics, the Oscars, The Superbowl and many more in between, join Fernand as we go on an adventure behind the scenes to find how it's made with lots of juicy trivia, techy information - and more!
I do know that (based on footage from Green Wall Designs, check their Instagram) After Effects was used for a lot of screen content and the main graphics - lots of layers and keyframes visible! - as well as the expected C4D and other industry standard software.
Just watched it, and you’ve done such an amazing job again! Every year, you keep raising the bar. Even though this year felt a bit chaotic, seeing the effort behind it reminded me why I love this competition so much.
AAA! Thanks so much, super glad you like! And I agree, it was a particularly crazy year, already well covered online - so just focusing on the otherwise impressive production and high effort behind the scenes. Massively looking forward to seeing your 'What If' / design concept videos into next year!
Surely when the world is kinder, and it will have to be, than Sweden will want to host again. They always host well whether easy, hard, United or divided
Thanks for your kind words and for stopping by! It was an interesting Olympics since the year before, especially with their 'back to basics' approach. Stay tuned/subscribed for more!
I'm so in love with the dynamic light grid that can change the rotation and y-position individually It looks so sick, especially when used in a dome shape like it is at the end of nemos performance e.g. (they used it in another performance more prominently but I don't remember haha)
Your video just reminded me how absolutely unfair the disqualification of Joost Klein was! You video like the EBU’s attitude is to pretend the show was good when I fact whatever the production value were the EBU allowed the intimidation of artist while being over zealous in it punishment of The Netherlands especially in the light of the Swedish prosecutors comments. I now routinely avoid all RU-vidrs who do not yell this as they truely are, that includes you.
Some addendums (and corrections if applicable)... - Stage Ready Sound: 2011 is widely known to have this, with its famous heartbeat. But it _could_ be argued that 2006 was the first to have this, with the transition sound & lights effect out of the postcard. The jury is still out on this one! -- In addition, 2012 did not have an official SR sound (it came back in 2013). However, in rehearsals it appears several test versions were played out, inspired by Azerbaijani traditional musical instruments. My theory is they weren't used due to their duration being several seconds long - but you never know, what could have been!
Good point! It could also be argued that it was the sound at the end of the postcard transitioning into the song, so 'kind' of a stage ready before it was a Stage Ready sound, haha. Bonus fact: 2012 officially did not have a SR sound but it appears they were testing one (or a few) during rehearsals. Never know what could have been...
Wow!!! I have discovered this video today and It is full of details and very good commentaries for this year great EUROVISION!!! As live Audience inside Malmö Arena was brilliant and SPECTACULAR how every worked and all available news this edition!!! Very well done Sweden, SVT and of course, Malmö!!! Other strong point was the security👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇸🇪
The PSF look is just ugly. I’d get it if the whole show was produced that way (although I’d still strongly prefer interlaced video or 50 fps progressive) but if you look closely, the graphics are still shown in interlaced format so it just seems like an afterthought. And they also screwed up the PSF settings for Sweden’s performance in the final, hence why the performance looks so stuttery and ugly compared to the semifinal.
i'm so glad you focused on the technical excellence of the broadcast, this year was so overshadowed by drama and i'm beyond fed up hearing about it. the team deserve a huge amount of props and recognition !! they pulled off so many amazing feats
The best explonation for 2022 is the description for anything Italian, "Beautiful design, terrible engineering." However if there's one thing I give RAI credit, it was a HUGE improvement compared to 1991.
