Would kill for every tutorial to be this clear and concise. Much. Love. 2 minutes in and I realized my ejector had snapped off. 🙄 New one on the way, THEN I'll revisit the FTE issue.
Nice tribute man. I watch your vids on and off over the years. I just watched a few this morning and when I noticed your spotter was gone, I looked for a video about him. May he rest in eternal peace.
I shoot a Ruger Precision Rimfire that comes stock with a 30MOA rail and am running a Vortex Strike Eagle 4x24 with at 20MOA mount. I shoot Norma Match at 300 yards with a 5 inch group on my steel plate. With the 50MOA rail+mount and 30.9MIL range on the scope with a 50 yard zero (2.4MILs from bottom of turret) I can ramp up to a crosshair zero at 465 yards on a max'd turret and a 4MIL holdover for 500 yards with the Norma Match velocity of 1043fps in the gun. (Our club Rimfire PRS matches run the stages from 85 yards out to 300 yards.)
Took mine out today for the first time, not super impressed with the accuracy at 50 yards. Maybe the barrel needs a longer break-in period but i honestly expected better right out of the box.
Accuracy might be an ammo problem (different guns like different ammo) but I find that any wind will cause mine to group wide. That little 20 grain bullet I shoot is affected by the wind bad.
The camera I use for the target is a Nikon P900. It has a 83X zoom lens which makes it equivalent to 2000mm focal length (photographer lingo) at full optical zoom. It can then go to digital zoom but I don't use that as I will crop and zoom in editing. The camera is with me (300 yards away from target in this video) which catches the bullet flight path rather well, especially with the sun about my 7 o'clock postion and low on the horizon,
Hi Steve,, welcome back man,, missing seeing your videos,,, wish i could have a gun range like that,, a big white banner out there to see where every shot hit would be nice....
Thanks. I've been a little burned out on making videos this year. Then with all these heat waves coming through Nevada, it's been hard to get out to even shoot much.
@@desertdwellers7294 You went with the sight size .135" Tall x .125" W right? Did it give you a good alignment when aiming at the target? I read in a forum somewhere a K12 owner said if he had to do it again, he'd get one height size shorter and narrower like a .120" Tall x .115" W. I wasn't sure which is better? Or is it all a matter of preference?
It seemed that the wind velocity and change in wind direction for the first 18 shots was erratic while the 3rd mag when you were landing the shots was when the wind was more consistent. I’m building a AR 6.5 Grendel right now and am looking forward to reaching out to those distances, can’t wait to try. I know for sure I couldn’t have done better in that wind. Thanks for sharing!
Just remember, I'm not the best shot, lol. I noticed years ago that my fine motor skills have diminished over the years. Also I suck at judging the wind speed.
Excellent video! I don't even have one of these rifles yet, but I'm researching in advance of purchase... and this appears to be a common problem that consumers frequently say that you have to return the gun to S&W to fix... or fix it yourself. I watched several videos first and your STANDS OUT against the others! VERY well done, sir! Great demonstration with great lighting and video quality!
I'm not a long range shooter at all, but I was shooting my 6.5 grendel today. I was hitting an 8 inch plate at 300 yards almost every shot. Hit my 10 inch plate 4 out of 5 shots at 400. Shot 10 shots at a 10 in plate at 500 and never touched it.
I had cycling issues with my .450 BCA. I was first using polymer tipped ammo and it jammed every time. I was told not to use polymer tip 450 ammo for AR platforms because that was the issue
@@desertdwellers7294 I like it though. We need to travel a long way to get to the nearest 300m range, maybe if I can build something like that which has an easy take-down, but which is also light and strong enough at the same time, it should work fine. Cheers.
Nice shooting. Apart from the shot that went slightly left, you grouped in a vertical line with the Hornady in the first instance. I’d say that was the velocity or maybe the mirage. I’m keen on getting a budget 6.5 Creedmoor rifle for sports shooting, this might fit the bill. Unfortunately, over here in Europe, Howa rifles are not loved much, some say because of lack of quality consistency some years back. So still a bit undecided. Thanks for sharing this.
Not sure what might be happening. RU-vid does some strange things sometimes. I have two comments in the 'Hold for review' section that I can not ok. They've been there for months.
nice video, this is a nice variety of shoulder holsters for the large-frame pistols I generally use the Springfield armory 1911 ccw with 4 magazines. 2 on the belt and 2 under the right arm. This is just how I like it. again thanks for giving great advice sir. ( Colt stays in the safe at home)
I drilled out the gas port to .077 and for the 1st time since I have owned my .450 Bushmaster, it cycled 5 rounds without a hitch. SO pumped. I checked my buffer and it was 3 oz. I did replace the buffer spring because I had a new one that was about 3/4 longer as well. Thanks!
I've had the TH40 for about 4 years now and love it! Just like you I've watched reviews where reviewers show the mag drop issue but I've never had that experience with mine. Great pistol at a great price. Thanks for the video 😊
I'm pretty sure it was my fault that the magazine came out. I've ran a number of mags through it since then (and making sure I bumped it into place good) and it has not happened again.
Just recently got a 6.5 Grendel, 300 yards has been as far as I have had the opportunity to stretch it out , 1,000 yards is impressive with the little cartridge, especially with the wind blowing
When I bought the Wolf ammo, it was 17 cents a shot. The next cheapest I could find at that time was 75 cents a shot. And the Wolf shoots pretty good in that rifle, even compared to Hornady American Hunter and Black.
One thing all folks shooting a .223 to 1000 yards need to master is WIND. Shooting 80-82 grain VLD’s, a wind constant of 10 can be applied to MOA wind formula to get a good correction if the shooter can estimate the wind velocity and its direction accurately. If the shooter cannot do that then just a 1 mph cross wind will displace the bullet about 10 inches from point of aim. This fact on the matter makes it easier to understand why so many shooters just cannot get many hits in the NRA Long Range Target’s 10 inch diameter X-Ring shooting a .223 to 1000 yards because virtually no one can observe a 1 mph wind change. There are shooters nevertheless who can get many rounds inside 2 MOA at 1000 yards but only if highly trained and having a lot practice with it such as Military Shooters.
