I used to go through half shafts every 6 months 25 years ago when I was younger and loved showing off doing wheel spins with 750 tyres. I bought it already fitted with series 2 axles, I've always run it on r.rover 3.5 diffs which lasted 2 or three years. However when fed power smoothly everything holds up, not had to replace any drivetrain in the last 10 years. Senility confirmed 😂
What an unusual conversion, I've not heard of that ever done before. Do you know why he chose that?, It's not a common engine to find, even back then...
My friend passed two years ago l saw the drawings of the crank spacer and the fly wheel housing had to be turned to clear the starter from the right hand manifold the clutch plate was 50 % uprated. The tyres were shot in no time . But dam good fun . The vehicle went to Cornwall from sheffield
I visited yandev with my parents as a little child in the mid 80s . We had an Indian family friend there . Uncle pal and we loved visiting him. We lived in mkar and grew up there . The most beautiful childhood I can think of. Riding bikes up and down the steep hills and plucking fruits from trees and eating and hearing those beautiful birds chirping in their melodious voices. Lovely ! Lovely! Just like paradise and above all the people around us were soooo loving and caring .
I replied ages ago to many uploads but for some reason there was a problem with RU-vid. From 1976 my dad was working for SGC (Swiss General Contractors) which was the company that had a camp at Yandev, building the BCC cement factory. I lived in the Yandev camp whilst the BCC camp was located at Mkar. Both camps were synonymous going too and fro and I had many happy memories of poolside adventures, Cinema nights and Hash House Harrier runs. We relocated to Makurdi to build the Benue state secretariat in 1981, at that time the SGC camp became the BCC junior camp and the BCC camp became the BCC senior camp. Looking at google maps Both BCC camps are now in ruins 😪
@@thomaswilson1616 wow ! You guys did so much . Yes I remember BCC as we had family friends there as well . I googled mkar and gboko on maps and my heart really broke because Mkar has so less trees now and the Nkst hospital is all ruined . It used to be sooo clean but I was heartbroken to see so much mess on the roads . Mkar university seems to be quite clean but the trees are all gone . I wanted to Google my house there. The beautiful house where I had the most beautiful and safe childhood but I couldn’t reallly see it because it said the private roads won’t be shown. But I really want to see it but I also feel like I might burst out crying if I visit and see that it’s not like it used to be . My dad had planted so many trees and flowers there . Very very beautiful compound we had . I am scared to visit because I don’t want to have a different picture of that lovely place. I want it to have the same picture and respect in my heart always. And if I ever win a million pounds I will have mkar developed even more . I will rebuild the roads and hospital and get many trees planted there . I will let birds live there in their beautiful nests for ever and will preserve the mountains. Mkar was soooo beautiful . If you ever go there please send me a picture of my house. Nkst Senior staff houses , house number 4 . Thank You for replying and communicating with me. I still have friends there but they live in Abuja and Lagos now
My dad worked for the construction company (Swiss General Contractors) that built the Benue Cement plant. After finishing this they located to Makurdi where the company built the Benue State Secretariat. The best years of my life 8 years old to 19 years old spending my school holidays and two years after I left school in Nigeria. So the "Small Boy" in these movies is me 😂 Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress 🥰
Nothing like V6 Essex power. LOVE the howl - fondly remembered from childhood and also later a career in the Fire Brigade with a XR6 Sierra - 230 KM/h+ and the big old hunk of V6 Essex iron up front howling like a mad banshee... good times.
That high pitched gear box noise brings me back to when my dad took me out in his rover he’s trying to sell it and I don’t want him to. so I’m trying to convince him to let me have it as he wants my mx 5 which he’s on my insurance for now. his is a 2.8 v6 cologne with a series 3 front a series 2 rear and I love it to bits and never want to see it go because I know the next person will either scrap it for parts or abuse it and it’ll end up in a skip. All the childhood memories of off-roading with my dad and going to Land Rover meets it’ll be too hard to see her go
I've had this car for 25 years and I nearly shit myself everytime I spank it. It's got the original series one box in it but series 2 axles with RRover diffs.
