Its all about planning accordingly. I saw her in SF. Ticket said 8:30. Which is when the DJ opening act started and he played for an hour till 9:30. Madonna came out at 10. I know she has a history of being late so I didn’t turn up to the arena until 9 and then got drinks and merch. I didn’t get to my seat until 9:45. So i only waited 15min.
This happens when the show is as big and elaborate as her tours. Her shows became large with Blond Ambition, but they got to a whole new level, starting with The Confessions Tour. People are acting like this is happening because she doesn’t care, is backstage getting her hair done, and shows up when she feels like it. If anything goes wrong during the tech rehearsals before doors open, then the start time is going to be delayed until everything is perfect. Otherwise, you will have a crowd complaining the next day about the issues that happened during the live show. Either way, the performer can’t win. People love to feel entitled and complain about anything whenever possible. If you go to a Vegas-size, moving show like this vs. a residency, then expect the possibility of delays. Madonna is known for being a perfectionist who beats herself up when the result isn’t perfect. Starting a show really late is far from perfect, and it most likely drives her crazy, knowing all this work went into creating a great show only to piss off an entire arena of people who will spend their time being angry instead of enjoying the show. I will say one thing she should do whenever the show is delayed is address it in some way during a talking moment between songs. Knowing her, she doesn’t even want to think about it because a delay is a mistake.
this! also, judging from my experience, the show started about a minute after this song ended. the sound technician turns up the volume when WBSS starts to signal the show is about to begin. the OP probably waited two more minutes before Bob started the show
This is nothing but a load of excuses. She is known for starting her shows late and not because she's a perfectionist and she's worried about blah blah blah. She is late because she does not care. She was even sued by fans for it. The residency vs tour excuse is ridiculous because you could name any other working popstar with shows ten times as big as Madonna's that manage to start on time. You really believe that it's all because she's a perfectionist and there are tech issues sometimes. Literally 40 years in the business and you think they haven't figured out how to run things smoothly? It is never ok to collect money from people and then waste their time. People like you love to make excuses for the shitty behavior of their idols. Just because you're a fan doesn't make her perfect.
that’s absolutely untrue. there’s a DJ from 8-8:30 to about 9-9:30, then she starts about 15 minutes after, which is common practice. the moment Wanna Be Startin Somethin plays, they turn up the volume to indicate the show is about to start.
main acts always start later than the time on the ticket. there’s a DJ who does a set for about an hour. it’s physically impossible for a venue to be filled up within an hour and a half after the doors open. people want to get food or drinks, merch and then they get to their seat.
I cant stand her. But hey, if her fans will wait for hours, why should she care if she's that late Trust and believe, if everyone walked out after 30 min, she wont be late anymore.
When the arena is like this it is almost like it's not going to happen. I didn't get to see Madonna but I did see Cher and she had similar set up before show
