You don't need to weld near the magnets. He could weld a foot down the piece and it would still hold the piece down. Regardless, arc blow doesn't make much of a difference if you're doing a quick tack weld.
While this demonstration is poor at showing the practical use, a device like this is good for a long piece that is bowed in the middle. If the angle iron was 20 feet long and you were welding it in the middle of a 20ft by 6ft steel plate, and the angle iron was bowed in the middle, that's where you would use this device because you can't get a clamp to that area.
Something like this is more for a long piece where the gap is in the middle of the piece. Places like that you can't get a clamp to. This demonstration is poor at showing the practical use.
Don't tell me what I can or cannot do at home the minute you say don't do this at home guess what I'm going to do at home the exact thing you told me not to do at home
Guy seems to be 50+ and he’s trying to deceive and mislead the people it’s disgusting people like this have no integrity. I know it’s something small and that’s the point it’s a normal thing
so technically since your tool is perfectly round, and all material has some amount of spring-back, the tube doesn't stay round after you take the clamp off. fine for clamping for welding
