Vaughn, I have this same sword. Your grip looks great! I really like how you reduced the "black" of your etching; I think it looks much more subtle and elegant! Can you offer any advice how to do the same on my "inlays/etching?"
@vaughn9134 I like this idea ..could it be take off with some kind of acetone or if u was to repeat the process, would u do it in another way ? Cheers
Well done.. I recently went with a ronin katana Euro #8 as the poor man's carry of those days.. bad mistake.. ripple blade, rolled point.. wasted 300.. I should have just went with the Albion Squire from the start, which always looked like what the average man would carry in those days. Wish they came with a scabbard like this.
@@raptix7907 very, very nice. Definitely needed some sharpening, but I'm loving her so far. Did several videos with her. Just search my name and tod cutler. Picked up the baeurnwear one as wll.
Congrats on picking one of these up. One of my favorite in his line-up. Did you ever weigh yours? I’ve always been curious about that stat. Looks like it’s sturdy but light. I’m all about these shorter messer.
Man, that's one cool messer! I've been a big fan of Peter Bruegel's art since I was in high school, so I definitely gotta save up for one of those! Does it seem like it could be used as a tool, or do You think it's more like a dedicated weapon? Cause I'm a bit worried about the guard coming loose.
It is not going to come apart. I don't think you can chop down trees with it, but it can certainly split firewood. I know nothing about the historical context, but I am guessing it would have been an all rounder back in the day, though I am sure any self respecting peasant would have a trusty bill hook for heavy tasks like hedging.
Yes I bought it new, im not sure the squire line come with such a warranty, and postage costs to the USA are expensive, so it was just simpler to fix it myself
Ugh, that 1 year wait kills me! Do they take the payment upfront? or a deposit? I will call them Monday. For someone who wants things NOW, waiting a year is going to kill me! lol
Well i did recieve this sword today and it is a beauty. For a comparison i have an Albion "Thegn" and a Ghaddjhalt. This squire line sword is put together very well. Fit and finish is excellent. Now, comparing it to the Thegn. The squire line is 8 ounces heavier. It feels a LOT more. The pommel digs into your hand and it is Very uncomfortable without a glove. That aspect is the worst. The Thegn is a fearsome sword that is lightning fast to maneuver. You pay 450.00 and you get a good sword. You pay 1100.00 and you get a perfect Viking sword "Thegn". The Ghaddjalt is a excellent sword at 850.00. I like the squire line Viking sword though but i love the Thegn
nice work. Can you do an exactly review of the bladegeometry? I'am interestet in things like thickness and width at the base at 1/3 of the blade , 2/3, 120 mm 50mm ans 20mm from the tip. i do this on all swords i can get so that i can see how agile the swords are. wight balancepoint and so on is also interesting thanks
Good vid if only to see what it looks like under the handle. I bought this model off EBay and i hope it does not rattle. I also didnt think about the fact it isnt sharpened so it will make a trip back to them for that. I also within 2 days recieve my Albion "Thegn" which is one of those wickedly fast swords . It will be part of my Viking Kit along with a 4 foot Danax from Peter szabo who makes simply AWESOME ax's . I also Have an Albion Ghaddjhalt which is a brutal cutter . I love Albion swords. they are expensive to be sure but they are just great.
if it doesnt it wouldnt be made right and they wouldnt be able to call it an ulftbert if a skyscraper was made of thatching would it still reach the clouds i think not yes it should flex if not plzzzzzzz return it lmao
My friend has the same problem with his so he used a fine tip electric soldering iron and flux core solder to fill it in .....Beautiful contrast and easy to sand and polish
