I have a positive experience with the condo board I sit on using the company Tanmanz for both landscaping and snow removal. As far as deck repair no personal experience but have heard positive things from Candek. You may find an independent contractor (handyman) being able to fix your deck repair. Hope this helps!
Hi! I live have lived in Canmore my whole life, but it’s changed…. ALOT. Do I even have to get started on pay for parking- Oh look, it’s me, in another video again. Wow not surprised. Idc Also, DUDE WHY ARE THEY GONNA BUILD A NEIGHBOURHOOD IN THE BEST FOREST IN CANMORE ROGHT NY THE POWER-LINE/ MY HOUSE. Sorry for the all caps. Yo, anyone’s kicking the private property signs or just me? Sorry I’m so angry.
I have lived in Canmore my entire life. I still to the day but it’s changed a lot. This place used to be a nice calm town . The quiet nature, the hikes every time you stepped outside into the mountains, you felt a sense of calmness silence But now I just feel like Canmore is a tourist town . Not to mention the paid parking I’ve been living here my whole life I forget to pay for parking once And I get like $100 fine For parking in front of my house Canmore is just taking after Banff This place is not how it used to be Bro, this song I made a few years ago actually works out now On the first day of summer, Canmore gave to me One parking ticket On the second day of summer Canmore gave it to me 2 million billion very very rude tourists. No, but seriously . Also, the homeless that are coming in . Bro, like I feel like Canmore isn’t safe anymore My street, just because you can walk to Quarry lake is overrun with cars To the point it came illegal to park there, but we have two cars and can’t fit them in our one driveway. Who am I kidding a Flippin day ago a tourist parked. In our driveway. There’s so rude The tourist here are acting like I’m the tourist And the ones that move here are acting like I’m a little spoiled brat And then all the unique canmore stuff that used to be unique to this place spots were only the locals knew existed, and they wanted to keep it that way Nope Instagram is have to come film everything film our homes . The other day, this two hours is paying me millions of dollars to sell my house to him so he could break it down and build a mansion. No This neighbourhood is built of old houses If you ever trying to destroy house, you’re gonna get a fist to the face .
I'm a teacher and my husband is a lab technologist....what are jobs like for these fields. He would prefer a manager position. I would like an outdoor life for my son. Skiing and lessons and skating and just being outside. Hiking and camping in the summer.
Hi Marie, thanks for your comment! As far as jobs I would suggest that it wouldn't be impossible for both of you to find something within your line of work here. I am not super familiar with lab techs. It is an awesome place to raise a family there is no denying that. Hope this helps. Feel free to connect with us via email or phone and we would be happy to discuss anything further.
You have to remember that Canmore only has 15,000 people. These jobs exist but there arn't a huge number of them. Keep your eye out for job postings or try to befriend someone in the industry. I do know that teaching jobs are in fairly high demand, with some people acting as substitute teachers for years until they land a permanent position. Not sure about lab techs - the hospital does have a lab.
Now that BC has legislated zoning changes for all communities, how will this affect the single family real estate market, and short term rental properties? news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2023PREM0062-001706
Consider the number of 'investors' who live in Alberta, bought a BC coastal home for a summer holiday, but can afford this property because they can offer short term rentals for the rest of the year. Tenant regulations do not consider the owner's right to property use. Once a property is rented to a tenant, basically the property owner loses all rights to the property, and even trying to set up a 10 month lease agreement, does not allow the property owner the right to evict the tenant for personal use, without undo costs and timing issues. Also, short term rental units provide a high demand service, the legislation is attempting to decimate.
Thanks for the comment! As of right now Canada has a foreign buyer ban for non canadian citizens and non permanent residents. However, there are some areas that are excluded. Feel free to reach out if you want additional info!
So many memories for me. My family got there before the mine closed. We were there as it was dying and then the town Council had an idea. Copy us and our business.
Thanks for the content. I personally was living in a small complex a few years ago in Canmore. It was a mix of owner occupied, long term leased (like me) and some empty units that owners occasionally used. I was told one day that the complex got rezoned to allow short term rentals. Within a month half the properties were for sale, I got my notice to move out, and essentially all were turned into AirBNB’s. So from my experience, these AirBNB’s do take away homes from long term residents. I am all for this legislation.
The solution is supply and demand. Allow more homes to be built, this will make prices less for all and solves the issue. You will not get the data because it does not work. Only supply and demand will. Basic economics.
The issue now is the developers are catering to these Short term rentals and that is what they are building. Most everything is a tiny 1 or 2 bedroom “luxury” unit marketed to investors who want to AirBNB it. Just look at any of the developments going on in Canmore right now. I suspect TMSV will the same. Ban these things and build properties that people and families can actually live in!!
Why do politicians think that this will solve the issue? The issue is simple, planners and others do not make it easy to build new homes, hence the shortage. Does not affect me, so my comments are without bias.
What is the use of there being so many specialists in Canmore if people can't get referred to them because there aren't family physicians and the cost of living is the same as in Calgary?? Especially for retirement age people? Airdrie would be better but there's no hospital there.
I hope to work in a restaurant in Canmore, either seasonally or permanently. Without a doubt, walking home from work with those beautiful views would be a dream. :')
Thanks for the comment! Yes there is. Depending on what line of work you're looking for there is lots of opportunity. Let us know if we can be of any further help!
Lots of great information, thanks! If I could offer some tips: - round all your percentages, skipping the digits after the comma. - Too small data slices such as “1 month” or “<10 units” are statistically no longer meaningful, especially in comparison to earlier periods. Perhaps rolling three-month periods would be more helpful (at least for us as potential customers)
Thanks for your comment. We will take your recommendation into consideration. There is small data because we have limited inventory. We try and be as precise as possible with our information. If you stick around to the end of the video we break down what the numbers mean and what we see happening in the market daily. We hope you find our content informative and educational. Thanks
Hi guys looking at some of your all video and have a question. Let’s myself and my significant other looking for a summer home there and then rent out out other seasons. Are you guys all in one? Or recommend someone else for seasonal renters?
Thanks for your comment! We can definitely help you with your needs. Feel free to connect with us via phone at 403-688-1070 or via email at info@canmorearealiving.ca. We look forward to connecting.
Canmore is not representative of the population. Canmore is a good gage for what wealthy people who are not tied to a location specific "job" and can live anywhere, are doing.
Don’t forget retired boomers, AirBNB’s and wealthy people who have second properties there. I would guess over 50% of Canmore’s property owners fall in those categories.
Would you be able to do a video on new builds? Detached/Duplex specifically. I'd be interesting to learn more about what the builders have said to you. Have a great day and thank you for the video.
Thanks for the comment! The trade industry here in Canmore has lots of job opportunities that pay well especially with quality experience. Are you looking to move to the bow valley? Hope this helps!
What if i use an out of province bank to get, lets say 10% down. Anything hindering me from that purchase going through? Any local laws stating minimum 20% down for example?
Hi Nathan, thanks for the comment. There is nothing hindering a purchase from going through if you are an out of province buyer as long as you're a canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada. That being said, due to these types of properties and the way the banks views them they all require a minimum of 20% down unless you plan to use a form of private lending. Are you looking to get into the Canmore real estate market? Hope this helps. Cheers!
Hi There, just found your channel , are there other zonings or areas that do not allow short term rentals. We are interested in moving to Canmore and are not sure if we want a condo or a home. We also have a dog. We don't want to be where there are rentals allowed. Thanks Julie
Hi Julie, to answer your question, yes there are lots of property both single family and apartments that are strictly residential without the designated usage of short-term rental. The pet won't be a problem and we would love to help you!
I would love to live in Canmore, but the cost is way too much for me, unless there are any older single men there who want to marry this older woman! lol
I been living in Canmore for 10years. And I find most businesses owner don’t own there own house. Where I find house properties are extremely expensive and that goes with rental property. I also find groceries are the same price as if you shop in Calgary with Safeway and save on foods, where I highly recommend you plan a once a month grocery run at Costco. I would say there lots of job opportunities in Canmore but the housing play a big effect of business hours where there lots of second and third home owners that hurts local people to stay in Canmore that makes a big impact on local businesses.
Hi Demi, thanks for your comment. Although we primarily deal with the buying and selling process if you email us your info we can do our best or point you in the right direction. Our email is info@canmorearealiving.ca
35% down payment? That limits buyers by a loooot. I will never achieve my dream to have a townhouse in Canmore if the down payment is 35%. IF average price is 1.2M then down payment 35% is 420K. Who has these money in the pocket right now?
@@alexandrucovaliov8989 35 percent down if you are doing an “investment” property …short term rental. Not otherwise. Short term rental is regarded like a hotel and needs a higher down payment.
