My name is Jo and I have loved sewing and crafting for as long as I can remember. On this channel I share tutorials, tips, and information on sewing and quilting. Videos are released every Sunday afternoon. Everything I share can be done on a basic sewing machine or hand stitched with minimal equipment, and is beginner/intermediate, but mostly beginner friendly.
I am new to sewing/quilting. My question pertains to finishing the backside. I understand the stitching is hidden under the binding on the front but what about the backside?
Thanks for your question. It is hand stitched on the reverse side. Because there is a lot of fabric between the binding due to the gathering of the ruffle it would be quite tricky to machine stitch. I hope this helps. 😊😊
Thank you for answering. I rewarched the video. I missed the end the first time, where you explained exactly what I was asking about. Your video is very clear. Thank you!
I need help. My old kenmore and my newer brother machine dont stay straight when trying to sew a quarter of an inch. What would cause that. Even sewing slow it likes to drift to the left
Hello! I want to say I stumbled across your channel today and you now have a new subscriber! I love how you explain everything. Very detailed without repeating yourself. You also have tutorials on many things I’ve wanted to do and some things I’ve done. Your channel is quite similar to my interests in sewing.
I appreciate this. I have a question. Could I make strips and sew strips . Then cut.. Then connected ? Pink cream strip set Green cream strip set- I’m just wondering - to save a bit of time
I'm not quite sure how you would make a disappearing four patch using strips, but you don't have to use a disappearing four patch, you could use the same method to join your finished blocks and use ant type of block you like. I hope this makes sense.
I'm so pleased you use inches!! And thank you so much for not having annoying music! And thank you for using light coloured fabric. I was trying to find a decent tutorial on bias making and one of the sewists I watched used dark fabric and her piece was so small you couldn't see what she was doing at all. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind comments. My Mum taught me to sew in the early 1970s and here in the UK but we were still using imperial measurements, we were taught metric at school so I am lucky to be able to use inches and cm. Thank you 😊😊
Would ironing the folded edges help keep the shape of the window? Or maybe I just need to practice my sewing because I always sew off the edge or the sewing line is not as smooth as I would like. Also the fabric seems to shift a lot.
Hi thanks for your question. I wouldn't advise ironing. It takes practice, no one gets it perfect first time. Take your time and sew slowly, if you have a slow setting on your machine use it. I hope this helps but really it is just practice and don't be too harsh on yourself, I'm sure it's better than you think. 😊😊😊
Oh I thought all fat quarters were 50 cm x 55 cm or 20 inch x 22 inch. When I do my next fat quarter project I will make sure it can also be done in a smaller size. 😊😊
I just happened upon your video while searching. You have just made me a FAN! 4-projects out of a 1/4 pc of fabric. Fantastic!! Great for a retiree beginner such as myself. No waste of fabric whatsoever. I watched twice to believe what I was witnessing. Thank you so much for sharing your skills to No-Waste fabric.
You're so talented & make everything you do look so easy! Brilliant! 💕 I've got 2 things to start on when I'm well again then I'm going to give this one a go! Thank you😊 PS, Marion & you are my favorites on RU-vid 💕💯 xx
Looks amazing- the quilt & the ruffles. I love ruffles- add them to my home made pillows. However, I’m attempting my first big quilt and would like to add ruffles to it as well so thank you (if you have a suggestion on how to only do ruffles to the top and bottom but leave the sides (with binding) let me know if possible & maybe a video on how to 😅
Yes I have a collection of vintage fabric which I have been waiting for the right project to use it on. I am using the bag to take to work and I love it. Thanks 😊😍
hello very nice lady please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal how its used to sew please kindly reply back ok?thank you very much 😊
Here in 🇺🇸 most of us eat meat ... A lot of good & decent Christian country folk hunt deer, turkey, rabbit etc so we all own guns. Considering many families in my mother's generation didn't have indoor plumbing until the late 50s early sixties, my mother was born in 1949 and they didn't get an indoor toilet until she was 11 or 12 years old ... If my grandpa didn't own a gun to hunt they would not have eaten.. America is still a young nation in light of the Great Britain ❤ the media has greatly tarnished our American down home Christian image (however nowadays too many of us are living up to it 😥) Ahh well so much for that.. And thank you for your videos especially the one on how to add a ruffle on a baby blanket it took me forever to find that video again💝 ☺️
My dad collected antique guns, and I believe he used these guns for target practice. He used to make lead bullets in the kitchen , and I used to love watching hm do that. Guns have their place, just not on my quilt, haha. Thanks for watching my videos. 😊 😍
