Classic rides are my life. I enjoy getting video wherever I find them. Junk yards, swap meets, car shows, on the side of the road, you name it. I also have a few projects of my own and restore classic automobile factory ac and heater parts.

Well, it shows that you and most of your followers know little or nothing about these Fiats. More than 200K were sold in the USA. Those numbers are a testament of how popular they were in the USA. They were also very popular in Europe and around the world. They were affordable sport cars in that era from 1966 thru 1985. They are still popular and sought after by many enthusiasts. There are plenty of car clubs of these Fiat around the world. I own a 1979 and yes, I have spent more money than what the car is worth monetarily, but if you love a car, money should only be an inconvenience but not an excuse not to spend it in such a beautiful Italian classic. I would be all over that car to save it from being cannibalized or from going rotting. Buy that car and you will have plenty of offers on it.
@ClassicRideSociety
@ClassicRideSociety 2 дня назад
Well if it's that popular, then someone will come around and buy it or strip it clean. The Dallas / Ft Worth metroplex is pretty big so there should be plenty of guys out there with these cars that will be interested.

I am guessing it was parted out as it was possibly rusty Might not all be same model but this style

Whoa Nelley, 280Z(X) and it's for me. The one and only Nissan I actually like. Nope, it's not an '81. Even if you didn't have the date on the placard, you know it can't be a 1981-1983 model since the VIN isn't 17-digits. That system started in 1981 and continues to today. Yes, it does seem like those with "something to prove" often drove these, but I knew a few people that had them and they were regular folks. We got the VIN, we win: H for 2.8L straight six L28E engine with Unisia/JECS (Bosch licensed) fuel injection, G for 2+2 coupe, S130 for 280ZX model and the rest is the production sequence. The lack of an "G" in the VIN denoted it not being a 2+2, but this one is. They were assembled at the Hiratsuka, Kanagawa plant in Japan. Couldn't be the turbo engine (L28ET) because that wouldn't come out until the 1981 model year. The L28E was the only engine used in 1980. The L28E was like the "Slant Six" of the Nissan world and ran forever, plus it had a good fuel injection system making it even more of a good engine. No tag (under the hood, you missed it), can't brag, but possible code 603 Maroon Mist metallic exterior paint. Whoa Nelley, 1980 and gotta go. Parts from Japan and ready for the trash can. Datsun Z and it's over for thee. L28 used to be great. That's it, time to quit. In rust we do not trust. Painted maroon and about to leave the scene very soon. Going to be flat and that's that. Straight six hit the bricks. Please don't get squished because along with some here, for sure not Benny, but oddly enough for the Google Man, some of us are going to be very, very, very, very, very, very pissed.

You think that sun roof is aftermarket? I looked online and all I could find were t top models
@googleusergp
@googleusergp 3 дня назад
@@ClassicRideSociety I'm going to call that one likely to be an aftermarket. I think some (perhaps very rare) MIGHT have had factory equipment, but back then, sunroof and radio/sound shops were everywhere and dealers networked with many places that would do them an upfit through the 'accessory department". When my father worked for the local Cadillac dealership, they had an "in house" pinstriper for custom work. He was a local guy (who just passed away in 2023, I had found him on FB) that also was a local stock car driver and train collector. The dealership would call him up and he would come to the dealership and work in a bay or the car would be brought to him for the work. He often did it right in his driveway and also maintained a history page about the local racetrack in our area. He pinstriped my sister's 1979 Cutlass in 1985. I remember going there to have it done. It was $40 and it never faded or peeled. We sold the car in 1993 and the work was still vibrant. Back in the day, it was popular to put the name of a dance song on the rear of the car. You'd see ones like "Crank It Up" (Peter Brown), "Shoot Your Shot" (Divine), and others. My sister had "One More Shot" which was a 1982 song by C-Bank with Jenny Burton. I drove that car from 1990-1993 and everywhere I went I got, "Oh, you're the guy with OMS Cutlass". It sill had my sister's name on the driver's door when I sold it. In fact, I was getting my uncle's car inspected on Saturday and the shop I use for state inspection is right across the street from an old Chrysler dealer who used to have the racetrack in the back behind the dealership's property. It's lone gone now, having closed in 1972.

I had an 83 Sedan Deville in high school. It was a POS with the horrible HT4100 engine but the interior was immaculate. The ride comfort was unbelievable. If you took even a junkyard fuel injected Chevy 350 and transmission to put in this body style, you would be good to go. It was literally a couch on wheels. Cars like this went away because morons who do automotive journalism always complain about how a large car has soft suspension, cannot corner well, had nose dive in a hard stop, and how the seats are not sculpted to hold you in place. It is not supposed to do any of those things. It is supposed to be a magic carpet ride with total isolation from the road.

I remember the first of those Z ‘zzz when they came out it grew on me and especially when the 80 ties models came out they had some slight similarities with the ford pinto a neighborhood friend of mine had one and I had a 76 pinto hatchback but his Z was way much cooler than my pinto
@googleusergp
@googleusergp 4 дня назад
You can't compare the Pinto and Bobcat to a Z of this era, really. LOL. The Pinto and Bobcat were scrap metal from the day the left the assembly plant. No one really wanted to be caught dead driving one back then. That is, if you could get one to run properly. Ford's carburetion and ignition meant frustration for most owners as they along with Chrysler products were complete crap.

@@lancehudson6327 I was paying attention, but you weren't. LOL. As I said, you can't even compare the two. They are two TOTALLY different market segments and price classes. No one looking to buy a 280ZX was cross shopping a Pinto. They were either cross shopping a Camaro, a Firebird, possibly a Corvette, but more than likely a Celica Supra or an RX-7. All of the aforementioned were performance cars. The Pinto and Bobcat were economy cars. You were better off taking a city bus than driving a Pinto or a Bobcat. Whoa Nelley, holy poor grammar and punctuation, Batman.

Whoa Nelley, 1979 and at one time fine. No, it's "2000" because these had a 2.0L engine in them or 2000cc. It was technically sold from 1966 to 1985 and by the later years (1981 and up) it was essentially a Pininfarina model, who was a coachbuilder that had worked closely with Fiat and others. That's "Veg-Lee-A" and they are a subsidiary of Marelli. It was initially a joint venture between Fiat and Marelli. We got the VIN, we win: 124/CS2 for 2000 Spider and the rest is the production sequence. Yes, there's a chance it was repainted, but Fiats of this vintage (or any for that matter) were not known for their workmanship or reliability, coining the phrase, "FIAT=Fix It Again Tony". No tag, can't brag, but possible code 620 Silver exterior paint. Whoa Nelley, Fix It Again Tony, this one is full of baloney. That's it, time to quit. 2.0 and gotta go. Some junk in the trunk. VIN CS2 and it's over for you. 1979 and out of time. Parts from the land of the boot, and it's soon to bite the root. Going to be flat and that's that. Going to get squished and maybe only slightly so, is anyone going to be a bit pisssed.
