I sang backup for Toni in the casinos in the 70s. I lived in Reno NV. Daryl and Toni lived in Washoe valley. I went to UNR and sat between them as they wrote the backup for me. My sister-in-law was their vet tech for their pugs.
I don't see any honor deserved by Sarah Evans singing with an open shirt and all her cleavage showing. She looks like a singing prostitute! Shameful! Gives no glory to Jesus! And Barbara should have had better Christ honoring standards in all associated with her! She compromised and showed hypocrisy as a person who says she is a Christian! Sad really the songs she chose to sing such as if loving u is wrong I don't want to be right! It sets a dbl standard and mixed messages to all listening to her music. She should have stayed true to God not compromised for money and fame! Tracks or trash? Fame doesn't mean approval of a holy God!
The act of putting their seat belt on may have positioned them for the accident was just that act, changes everything. She likely slowed down a bit while putting on the belt and making sure the kids did. Likely would have never had the accident. I am for wearing seat belts don't get me wrong
Very active. I am not interested in such audience interaction. Many people are interested in such audience interaction. Many people are "whelmed into wonder" about such "punctuated" body movements (dance movements / choreography). Though such dance movements are innovative and often may or may not excel the progressive creativity in the performing arts (expression). Such dance introduces "click" fashion and step away from a more sincere approach to behavioral expression. Modern museums have "sincere art" and "abstract art." The "abstract art" is experimental and cause vogue perceptions; therefore such "abstract art" is a vogue (slang) view of what reality actually is. The vogue dancing and pitched music is being well performed by the dancers, instrumentation musicians and the many skilled talents performed by the expertise of Louise Mandrell.
When I liked "Love Will Keep Us Together", I rightly thought it should have ended with that. I'm sure Ella is rolling her eyes inside. But she is too much of a professional to express it.
Aw, the great Ella Fitzgerald turned 61 in 1978 and still sounded great here with the wonderful Toni Tennille. Ella retained her beautiful and strong voice right up to the age of 70, or so - after this, she STILL sounded pretty good. An amazing lady! Cheers and thanks for the great post!
It was a whole different era in country music … I was enthralled by her beauty and mostly by all the instruments she plays so so well. I would play her records on my travel record player … folded up like a little suitcase with a denim pocket on the back. HOURS in my bedroom listening and singing along to those records. She was a big reason. i went to college for music performance. I think young people today really have missed out if they don’t know about Barbara Mandrell. Recently saw the tribute to her at the Ryman - 50 years in the Grand Old OPRY.
