As a woman of color it was hard for me to understand Christianity because I didn't see any strong black and brown men upholding the tenants of Christ AND also standing on business, HE was the example of BOTH !!! Jesus color matters. How can you be a pastor and not have understanding of that. Jesus represents the foundation, the heritage, the spirit of the chosen people. You can't just come out of the womb a full grown man. There's a process and a beginning to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.

I’m a Christian and I stand with Dr. Umar. In church, we talk about how Moses fought for his people. But it’s almost seen as sin for a Christian to fight for black men and women because “it may be seen as creating division among other races”. But we forget we as a black race, have been fighting for years just like Israelites. David fought for his people. Queen Esther fought within her power to protect her people by seeking audience from the king and spoke up about issues that were happening to her people. Black people in America are where they are because some Christian men and women (both known and unknown) fought for them. Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking you’re dividing races by standing up for black men and women. You’re doing God’s work. We as black Christians need to do better. The leaders in churches may not agree with us but if truly they’re being led by God, then they’ll know where we’re coming from. We’re not protecting anyone on the long run by remaining silent on these issues because our children may end up having the same conversations we’re trying to have. We need to do the work and it may have to start with the congregation until it reaches up to church leaders and other authorities.
