5:00, overloading your brushes like this ruins them. It might seem a bit silly, but I think learning to load your brush and thin your paints properly is really one of the biggest milestones on your hobby journey. edit: Also, there isn't really any point to layering after you added the streaking grim, do this before because you can remove like 90%, and the oil will help a bit with the transitions.
All fair points! I'm really trying to learn to have more patience. Just gotta take my time and remember I'm not painting with One-Coat paints all the time. lol
I must confess, I was skeptical when you were highlighting with such bright greens. But then the reveal shots were soooo good. You really nailed the look of this orc!
Honestly, my love and enjoyment of Warhammer stems from hanging with my friends talking about lore, building painting and playing all while drinking beers on a Friday night. I prize the experience over most things so anything that offers the opportunity to get more people into the hobby is a good thing to me. Still trying to get my Fiancé to build and paint with me!
I don’t think I’ve heard that one before. That being said my fiance who’s a few months older than me does agree I have weird body language. Whatever you do don’t watch my Gundam video….
GW needs more thinning but has better coverage, although it dries fast so a nightmare in airbrush or wet blending. Vallejo needs less thinning but is in consistent in the level of coverage, and is great in airbrush. I just use AK cuz it has good coverage, consistency, and dry time. I’ve used pro acryl and reaper too and they’re awesome
I have to mention this seeing the finsh but a great rule of thumb when thinning ur paint is to test it on ur hand or nail. This lets u really dial in the paint before it touches the mini. If u dont like getting paint on ur hands just slap on a disposible glove. Lyla Mev has a fantasic video for anyone struggling with thinning their paints as being able to see it will always be better then a text based answer
@MOBhammer40k grab a booty squiggly in each hand, hold them close to your buttocks and allow the booty squiggly to clamp down securely on your ass checks with their razor sharp fangs. Sorted!
Those old minis were from the Rogue Trader era when GW was just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. If the fans got excited and cleared out the stocks then the minis stuck and usually got expanded on. Happy fans = more profitable business. The current change is ideologically driven, not fan driven. The profit comes from a third party that can expand the IP. These ideological changes will politicise the game-space - everything that people do in their hobby time will have to be done through the lens of identity politics - the Eye of Sauron will be watching. This is not just insidious, this will be invidious.
I have a pro tip for you: Visit a warhammer store with some friends. Make the model of the month and walk out with minis - all to yourself. I have 6 new space marines. (and no more friends)
Not a fan of this sloppy way of doing a wash. I'm more into a controlled pin wash. better results for me. But then again, i build models more than warhammer.
Another comment mentioned how the oils and sweat from your hands causes the glue to activate faster. It never occurred to me gloves would be the way to go. lol
