I just discovered Star Trek Continues in the last week. It is so amazing. I always got the impression with Shatner, that this was just a job. For these actors, their interest, and commitment was so apparent. I am blown away at their production. This limited series exceeds the original in so many ways. Excellent work!!!
Burt was awesome in Deliverance. The only actor that I determined could have done the role just as good: William Smith. Smith was a real-life badass, macho guy, very charismatic. But Burt was indigenous to the rural GA/FL region and was a natural too.
Burt said that Jon Voight told him when the movie was being made, that Deliverance would give him (Burt) the kind of serious critical acclaim that he hadn't received up until that time (1972). Reynolds was somewhat dubious, as he had heard similar things like that many times before.
Well, I am a female, I absolutely love this film!!!! It was made in my back yard, Clayton, so it had some special interest for me. I knew some of the locals playing in it, like Randall Deal, I knew his brother well and the family dinner was great I do believe they were locals, My sister used the dr. in the movie DR Fowler. I also knew the nurse Kathy Rickman, which I dated her brother for quit a while. Ok, aside from all that, things you probably didn't need to know, I loved the movie!! Which I had watched many yrs ago, and didn't give it another thought, but in recent yrs. I have revisited it, and have watched it over and over again. All of the actors were great!!! I love jon Voight, Ned Baty just wonderful actors. As far as the dramatic seen with his rape, was essential, it fit right in and was a part which belonged RIGHT THERE. Yes, it would give you pause, but it was a great filler in the movie. I can't image the movie without it. God Bless Ned Baty !!! I saw him in an interview and he said "I will NOT do this seen again!!" meaning you cannot make me do this a second time. I wish I could tell these actors how I feel about them as actors and how much I enjoyed the movie!!!
I've been collecting and collating as many polls of the show as I can in the last month. I've been a fan for over 30yrs, and wanted to see how my thoughts compared with the general consensus. And there is some consensus with some episodes, less with others. I've created a spreadsheet of the polls (a very wide one) and sorted them by lots of different ways: Statistical mean Median Mean corrected for outlier results Median corrected for outliers Average of the above Frequency of top 10 or top 20 appearances Top 10/20 frequency with bottom 10/20 frequency taken away Combined frequency score with +/-2 for top/bottom 10 and +/-1 for top/bottom 20 And whichever way I sort them, the top 10 are always made up of the same 10 episodes - not always in exactly the same order but always the same 10, listed here with their combined frequency score in brackets because it's the best for dealing with outliers: 1. The City On The Edge Of Forever (82) 2. Balance Of Terror (76) 3. Mirror, Mirror (75) 4. Space Seed (67) 5. Arena (66) 6. Amok Time (65) 7. The Trouble With Tribbles (63) 8. The Doomsday Machine (62) 9. The Devil In The Dark (54) 10. Journey To Babel (44) For the record, my own top 10 would include 8 of these, not necessarily in the order listed above, with A Taste Of Armageddon and The Ultimate Computer (which both figure in the composite top 20 however I sort them) replacing Amok Time and The Trouble With Tribbles (both of which I still like well enough, I consider them 4-star episodes rather than 5-star episodes but hey that's still better than good). I have less data for the bottom end because some of the polls I used were just top 10s or top 20s, so there's more scope for outliers, but here's the scores for the bottom 10 based on the data I have: 79. The Alternative Factor (-24) 78. And The Children Shall Lead (-22) 77. The Way To Eden (-21) 76. The Mark Of Gideon (-21) 75. The Omega Glory (-19) 73/74= Spock's Brain & Turnabout Intruder (-17 tied) 72. The Lights Of Zetar (-16) 70/71= The Empath & Mudd's Women (-15 tied)
They should have done a sequel around the time of this interview. Years later the redneck is found in the reservoir and look up these four guys years later to interview them about this guy's murder
