I have a great interest in video technologies for ever since I can remember. I have been working in the television production and broadcasting industry for over 30 years as senior video editor, cameraman and director. My greatest hobby and passion is to preserve and collect video and broadcast tv equipments especially of the 80s and 90s. It's not the hall-effect sensor that's causing this fault. You may have a syscon error or threading/unthreading switches that are not activating. Also the fact the display shows a "U" in place of the channel number is suspecious.
I think the video head is inside and the video mechanics are in the video playback mode now. So press the tape eject button and help the mechanical parts to come out to the normal position with your hand. Then insert the tape again
Thanks for your comment and help, I detected the fault, the little gear under the loading motor shaft is broken. Now I'm trying to find a new spare to replace it.
