why for the love of god can we export a transparent gif in Premiere (where masking/compositing tools are basically unusable) but in After Effects, the program made for working with transparency (i.e. compositing) we can't??? Adobe is the worst software company there is. I'm just going to do this in blender.

Thanks - this helped with my job. Selecting Apple 4444 as the encoder is what my problem was. Thanks for clarifying that. Why can't Adobe just get with the times and make software that isn't so bloated that you can't create frequently requested assets? Adobe needs to rethink their products and how they work. They're not practical any more and the process for creating basic assets like a transparent gif feels like it's hacking together multiple solutions (multiple apps, legacy settings, selecting encoders, wtf?!), rather than having a basic export option built right into AE.
