If you think about it, this is actually really awful. A traumatized man rents an apartment fair and square, pays all the rent upfront, and then is terrorized into leaving. Leading up to this scene, we get to see how the Ricardos and Mertzes are inconvenienced by his being there, but the effects on him are never shown because we're apparently just supposed to laugh at him as a pathetic little wimp, a nuisance to get rid of. But at least they screwed themselves in the end with Ricky getting the new job and Fred renting the extra apartment.
