Star Rapid provides high-quality prototyping, rapid tooling and low-volume manufacturing services. Our international team of engineers and managers combine advanced manufacturing technologies like 3D printing with traditional manufacturing techniques like CNC machining to provide you with all your manufacturing needs.
Enjoyed watching and learning but very disappointed you have left the UK and gone to China. I don't think making China more knowledgeable and richer is going to benefit the rest of the world in the long run. Neither are you creating any manufacturing jobs in the UK where I have no doubt you were educated and learned many of your skills.
Hey, great video but I'm getting a bit confused with the surface "texture" part like we are giving a "spark finish" to the metal piece so wouldn't that come in surface "finishing" part? Sorry if I'm sounding dumb, just confused. Thanks.
Hello. Texture and finish are often confusing and many people use them interchangeably. We think of 'finish' as a deliberate surface treatment meant to achieve a cosmetic or performance affect. This can also include painting, plating, and other secondary coatings. Texture is the measurable contour of the surface at the granular, molecular level. Sometimes this is applied deliberately to achieve a design goal, other times it's the accidental result of a machining or molding process. In your case. EDM spark creates a fine finish on the part, which can be measured as a smooth texture. Hope this helps :)
Not just egyptions and assyrians but till now Indians also use copper for various purposes because of religious conversion (mainly by Jerusalem originated religion's)they ( most ancient civilizations like Greeks, Egyptian)lost there continuity of civilization. India is the only continuous civilization so you can see some traditions people still follow as their ancestors and that's amazing
High efficiency, cost-competitive manufacturing creates an incentive to cheat and engage in illegal and unethical activities such as material substitution and illegal dumping, how would you propose these issues are addressed to ensure these decisions aren't supported by a simple cost-benefit analysis?
Hello Gordon, I have fully watched your video and have to disagree to at least 70% of the content of your video. I was working at LKR till last year (video you showed from the SUSTAINair H2020 Project was shot at our plant) and your mentioned short shot was intended to occour in that case. A short shot is something you do to set up your casting process and break it down into your 3 phases for perfect machine parameters. Next up you can definitely manage the entrained air - but why not mentioning the 1. phase? This phase is crucial for the porosity in your casted part. The simulations you showed were quite bad and should not be applied to the real casting itself - you should have mentioned it to make that one clear. Also a vacuum system is definitely not "highly unpractical"... the system is just as smart as it's user :-) and last but not least your recommended alloys... the most common alloys in die-casting are A226 and Silafont-36. Yes the eutectic alloys are well known for a good casteability but they do not have an inpact on the amount of porosity in your casted part. Regarding the mole fraction to mass fraction higher porosity can occour but just if you play bad with your temperatures.
Ya know, with a 3d Scanner, you could totally pull off a 'xerox buttcheek' print with quality results. Probably something BMW should consider with their new grilles...
2500 to 3000 and then polish. The further you go up in grit the easier it is to finish and have it look perfect. Also if you start low like 220 grit, each progressive grit MUST be stepped up in small increments. Don't want to skip grits to find out in final polish you can still see rough sanding marks from advancing to rapidly. Use a mister and some water with one or 2 drops of Dawn dish washing soap to keep your sandpaper clean and your material from burning as paper typically loads up without it...
Awsome video, thanks for showing us the sample kit. Im not ready to get a ra tester, so i appreciate you showing us the sample kit. I'm definitely getting one.👍
