Great advice about having winch connect offloading with the bed wet, thanks. Probably best for beginners to always winch up vehicles since it's safer and not knowing the feel of the the brakes it would suck to ram the back bar on your truck, I did that in my first month after watching more experienced driving cars up. Thanks for the vid, getting back in the game after not driving truck for years. Flatbeds are a headache. Example, you say after loading car to pull bed up even if you drag on gravel or asphalt so as not to stress hydros But I have been chewed out before for dragging the edge of the bed told that you lift the edge of the bed like one inch off surface before you roll up the bed, opposite of what you said. I guess it depends on situation Customer decorative driveway , public street or whatever. This new job will require me to drive flat bed and wreckers. I think wreckers are easier. Thanks bro.
I agree. If it is a nice area such as a fresh yard with nice grass, new pavement etc I will raise the bed as to not damage, or will put wood underneath where the bed would contact the ground to prevent damage from rubbing on unloading
I always keep a cable on it for safety. If the parking brake lets go or parking pin shears that car will take off like a rocket. I understand the one you have is a junker so it does not matter but it's good practice to stay consistent even with junkers.
I would have the winch attached and use sliders. If one side was to catch it’s gonna come off the bed at an angle. Once the front wheels are off put wood on the brake and seat and pull the bed backwards and forwards until it’s off. Yes it’s slower but a lot safer.
Brother here in Colombia I have a crane with that same Planchon, we imported it to Colombia about 15 years ago, the advantage is light, and it is the only crane in the country with that Planchon in aluminum 😅

Thats where your safety chains come in. I had them save me once when I forgot to put my hitch pin in. The trailer stayed attached but was rubbing the road. They would have prevented this.
Please don't touch the customers cars interior with dirty working gloves. You shouldn't even touch at the interior of your truck either with dirty gloves.
The reason we all tilt the bed first after getting the car on the bed, then start rolling it up and put it down is because of posible damage to the black top.
I have a 1989 ford bluebird f600 I have a Lucas girling brake system, the bus is my house. I REALLY want to swap my cast iron rims and brakes for either an air brake system, or for a modern heavy duty truck hydraulic system. I figured the rear axle swap would be okay but what do I do about the front? I was figuring I'd install air brakes, I already held a cdla for years with airbrake cert and a school bus cdlb with passenger and airbrake... So... Should ve fine for me to drive if i swap it.
Your front brakes should be just regular caliper brake pad rotor setup, Lucas Girling is typically parking brake setup rear only: can also swap front axle from the same vehicle you find the rear axle from, just measure it
Proud owner of a 1991 f-600 with Lucas Girling. I plan the same swap but my Allison transmission has provisions for the parking brake on the rear. You could also add a micro lock in the hydraulic brake lines to “hold” the service brakes on when you take your foot off the peddle to lock all wheels for winching and such. Thanks
It sure can, however it would get tricky to find an insurance policy that would only cover the truck for the months you’re using it, then cancelling insurance for the months you’re not.

If the GVWR is under 26,001 you do not need a CDL. However some states require a chauffeur license. No particular classes are required but they do help !
@@gapcityracing6086 engine power is only a small part of the issue. First off deleted trucks in any real established company don’t exist because the risk is far too great for the benefit, far better off just getting pre emissions which opens up different work and headache. Second, the pickup chassis trucks are far too light and their axle ratings are far too low as well, legally they are overweight with a small car in most circumstances and physically they are quite limited in what they can do. 650/6500 and up are the minimum I’d go for. And finally the pickup chassis just break left and right and if they are a ford it seems a recall is out every year, the reliability is just a nightmare with those poor excuses of a truck.
@@towtruckaj deleted trucks are everywhere and depending on your state most don’t care, sorry I don’t live in Cali… Pre emissions pick ups are weak compared to the newer ones, and the only way stuff breaks is pushing it pasts it’s limits as long as your not stupid you can do plenty and get better mpg also
To be honest mileage doesn’t matter as much as overall condition, rust, etc. I’ve put $20k into my truck over the 2 years I’ve had it. It’s the cost of business, and if still value it at about $18k. I actually have it listed for sale on marketplace at $18k
