He sang his best to the end, which was way too soon!! Yes the new replacements are doing extreme, but unfortunately they can never replace the original band!! I give claps to the replacements, but seeing and hearing the original guys is where founded and will always be the best!! Also, put Journey here too, you can never have the same group and sound once your founding members are gone!!
CJ always gave his all and his voice over the years!! So unfair that he died way too soon!! Looking at his videos,it does not make sense...he never acted a or looked like he had cancer. He seemed so strong, so mad the medics could not bring him back cardiac arrest!! So Sad!!
Hey I was the executive sous chef for this concert. I cooked both their meal and Collective Souls meal before the performance. My parents were in the audience and my soon to be fiancee was in the audience before we even met. Thanks for this.
His voice has deminished with age but a charismatic performer. I had just listened to Newton’s two hit songs CDs from 1960s. Another great Vegas singer entertainer was Bobby Darin who liked the kid Wayne about 18 and gave him new German Bert Kaempfert song Danke Schoen a big hit. I was in Air Force in Germany and it was on jukebox at Bitburg AB. Then Sinatra did Kaempfert’s Strangers in the Night and Summer Wind played on juke box. The biggest jukebox hit was Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots are Made for Walking. The most popular song was Nancy’s rocking Jackson duet with Lee Hazelwood. Tom Jones Green, Green Grass of Home was big also. All great songs. Newton was born near Fredericksburg, VA. I have meet several of his cousins who live near me. One was making copies of photos with him in Vegas. When Bob Hope left his many years with USO Newton took his place. I was told that in high school he was bullied because of his high pitched voice. A local Newton Potowamic Indian said Newton is related to Pocahontas not John Smith. Newton is Mr. Las Vegas and has done more cassino shows than anyone! I enjoyed his movies even as a bad guy in a James Bond film. His duet singing Loving You hiting on Chevy Chase’s wive was hilarious. On TV one woman said I saw him 50+ times she said every show was different. A legend I will never hear or will see but lives through his CDs.
