👋🏼 Hey there! I'm Kevin Lewis, a former TV news reporter at ABC7 in Washington, D.C., and WNDU in South Bend, Indiana.
After working in television news for 15+ years, I left the industry in February 2023, to have the freedom and flexibility to explore North, Central, and South America, capturing remarkable stories along the way, and sharing them with you right here on RU-vid.
Maybe you want to learn more about what's out there. Maybe you want inspiration on where to travel next. Maybe you just want to unwind after a long day at work or school... Whatever your reason, please know that whenever you watch a 'Kevin Across America' video, you should feel less stressed, more optimistic about the world we live in, and I sincerely hope, more motivated to get out there and explore. After all, there's such a lot of world to see!
Do you have a travel suggestion for one of my upcoming videos? Leave a comment in a recent video or email me.
Johnny constantly competed with his guests . Copying Mel Blanc in front of him, and competing with comedians . If you do your research, they all mentioned that, and Joe Namath said "he isn't as nice as you think" Eventually you will all hear the truth. He cheated and abused his children and his wives.
Great video! I have been here twice. Even came to the 2023 winter dance party concert they still have. Got to meet Connie valens. Was a blast and one of my favorite places I’ve ever been. So glad you got to interview these people that were there
The mould was broken after Johnny. Others tried to step into his shoes, but he remains the Gold Standard. Was there a dry eye in the house while Bette and Johnny sang?! And that finale. Thanks for sharing this VCR treasure!
As for the salmonella... You just got incredibly unlucky. As someone from Santiago who has lived there for over 25 years... Ive had sushi every week, pisco sour and tartare all the time, and never in my life have I contracted Salmonella, nor I know anyone else who has. But yeah, better safe than sorry.
Late night entertainment has never been the same without Johnny, David and Jay! Those were the days! Thank you guys! My hat of off to you fine and very talented gentlemen! ❤❤❤❤
Our parents know where they were and what they were doing when Kennedy was shot and my generation has a number of life markers in our memories' filing cabinets, as well. But another such event for me, personally ... I know where was and what I was doing on Friday, May, 22 1992; the night Johnny Carson retired as talk show host of "The Late Show." It was a bad weather night at D/FW Airport and I was supposed to have gone home hours earlier but on my way to the time clock I heard upper management complaining because Milton Berle was in the Admiral's Lounge which, in spite of flight delays, was going to close on time. Someone had to sit with Uncle Miltie until his flight was ready to board so he wouldn't have to mix with the public and be recognized. I proceeded to grab my time card, punch out, turn to these supervisors and say, "I'll sit with Mr. Berle and you won't even have to pay me." Honestly, I never really liked Milton Berle but he represented an era for which I had a deep fondness and, whether I liked him or not, Milton Berle was a legend. So, Milton Berle and I sat in an empty breakroom watching television and he asked me to put on The Tonight Show because, as I stated previously, it was Johnny Carson's last night of hosting the show and Berle, himself, had been on the show, literally, hundreds of times. The famous talk show started and Uncle Miltie produces a cigar from his sports coat and lights it. I did not object though there was no smoking allowed in the airport. He was known for smoking cigars. It was like it was a part of him; an extension of his arm. And, besides, Milton Berle was a legend. I got a coffee cup for him to flick his ashes in. Most of those ashes landed on the floor. So, Carson finishes his monologue and announced his final guests. There was to be one more show but it was to be a memoriam to reflect on Johnny's thirty years as host of the show but sans guests. McMahon announces appearances by Robin Williams ... and Bette Midler. Now, Berle and I talked very little but following the announcement of Midler, he informs me, "Oh, f@#*, I hate her. She's an ugly, disgusting whore," and proceeds to grumble, "B.M. Her initials are fitting," at which point I stood up and flipped away the table that was between us, yanked his old-man-head back with my right hand, whipped the lit cigar from between his crooked yellow teeth with my left hand and plunged it deep into his right eye while this "legend" writhed in pain, screaming and crying. This fantasy ended when I started breathing and blinking, again, and I continued to sit at the table, silently and professionally, with Uncle Miltie ..... and watched Bette Midler bring down the house and make Carson cry.
My Uncle died on the USS Eversole. Wondering if any of the survivors are still alive. Is there still a list of those who attended the annual event. I know they would all be close to 100 years old, but still would like to try and meet one of them. Could you contact me?
Took this trip in late April. The scenery was incredible and we actually arrived in Emeryville ahead of schedule. If you go by train you must be flexible as quite often trains can be hours late. Unfortunately,I found my sleeper car to be very poorly maintained and quite dirty! I noticed a bad odor upon boarding in Chicago and service by the car attendant was very poor. I was supposed to return to Chicago on the Southwest Chief but it was cancelled do to a derailment. I was rerouted to Emeryville and returned on the Zephyr. This train was no cleaner than the one going west. I really don’t understand how all the bloggers can give such glowing reviews where my experience was so off the mark.
How is it - ( ? ) - they can value the USD -- ''so much'' -- and care less about speaking English ? -- Half way around the world in Malaysia they speak English ( ? ) and in the Philippines ? -- Cambodia even accepts the USD and many speak English there ! --?-- Argentina ? 🤔
Argentines do not consume red meat the way yanks eat hotdogs and drink Budweiser. They're not as privileged as the foreign kings that travel down and eat in the most expensive restaurants possible. Glad to help.
