In retrospect, the cut national dex was probably the least of these games problems. Poor graphics/performance, lackluster story, stupid battle gimmicks, and lack of meaningful side/post game content are all way more important than how many Pokémon are in the game
The dex cut and ugly galar fossils on top of incomplete broken games forever ruined the series for me and I ditched Pokémon in favor of better franchises like Zelda.
I personally think that when you said that Scarlet and Violet are the best thing since oras that something inside me sparked because i remember playing oras like 3 times because it was so amazing the whole game is just such an adventure, the mega evolution, primal groudon/kyogre/rayquaza and the post game where you catch legendaries that come out of hoopa's rings or how you need mespirit, azelf and uxie to unlock dialga/palkia but.. When you see it, it is now kinda abandoned because the gts and trading are gone, just like support for the ds/2ds/3ds and then you just dream about another remake of the game and hope it's gonna be good and like the old days.
People complain about gen 2 but I love it because its still feels like an old game (I LOVE OLD GAMES) but has many quality of life improvements over gen 1, and the post game is another entire game!! Awesome
I need to say, I actualy realy liked gen 6, yes they are easy and x&y have some plot holes but idc, the games are realy fun, good map controls, good battle controls, but alola and up are just, bad, visibly lazy, poorly optimized and overhaul just not fun
I will always rue the day Game Freak decided to drop the Let’s Go art style it was perfect, just perfect. I wouldn’t mind if all Pokémon games had that art style, and we kept the SCVI artsyle for like spin offs and such. Game Freak just doesn’t have enough time to model all those detailed sprites and characters and it shows with how they came out in SCVI.
The thing about BDSP’s style is the fact that it makes every serious or even semi-serious scene feel corny or just funny in some cases. Especially when it involves Team Galactic and its cult leader Cyrus. He’s supposed to be intimidated, and even menacing, but no- He just looks like a baby playing pretend.. It also looks fairly ugly, the art style in general, with the hands for some reason? It’s like their little mutated humans, along with the colors feeling very off... If they wanted to go for Chibi they should gone all out in making them look like Chibi characters, something similar to Links Awakening Remake.. Hell, they should’ve just had that team work on it, they’re all under Nintendo.
This same open world issue is the exact issue that Nintendo has with Legend of Zelda. They've lost the understanding of what made exploration of their worlds fun.
I think the structure of this song is because of Cyrus desire to redo the universe, so his theme plays once in one way, and then when it starts again, its different and stays different from there on, like his desire to redesign the universe
The thing i hate the most about Legends Arceus is hisuian forms not being available in modern sinnoh, and evolutions for older pokemon that are exclusive to this game
Honestly? Terastalization is the best battle gimmick in my opinion. Dynamax and Z moves just suck, and mega evolutions were a cool concept done horribly wrong.
It’s funny because if you actually have played Pokémon through all of these generations, this is the most reasonable list anyone could give. Granted, I would change some rankings but overall I don’t disagree with any of his takes.
I also preordered ORAS going to pick it up on Nov 21 it was also my birthday and I played it the whole day and that was the most fun I’ve had on a Pokemon game
For ultra moon can't you also catch a "fuck ton" of legendaries through the ultra wormhole? If we're talking post game content I definitely spent tens or hundreds of hours doing that.
If part of “faithful” hadn’t included being blindingly faithful to recreating graphical style of old school 2D JRPG-style overworld character sprites, and then zooming in on them during “cut scenes” to make you see them up close, I swear this game would be talked about like 50% less. I mean, a lot of people would still dislike it for legitimate reasons, to still include other things about the graphics, but those overworld character models are so egregious that I think they kind of send you looking closer at all the other flaws in the game they exist in.
this game was the first Zelda game I played in my life. actually, I think it is one of the first games that I seriously played in my life. and man, i can truly tell that this game made me who I am and the way i love zelda and link
Here's the thing. I totally agree that pokemon fell of when it turned 3D, even though Nintendo did add some cool features in the meanwhile like uh... mega evolutions which were immediately abandoned in gen 7 (yes, i know legends ZA is coming), or flying around Hoenn with mega Latios/as, or Guzma, which is a peak Nintendo character. The issue isn't 3D itself, it's the lack of effort put into those games to make them feel more immersive and alive. Even some mods partially fix those problems, adding more dynamic poses for pokemon during battles, with more idle animations. I know 3D games usually require more time and effort to feel good, but let me remind you that transferring the games from 2D to 3D was Nintendo's own choice, so they should've accepted the responsibility of working on those games more and longer. Instead, they decided that they were gonna keep milking that cash cow, and release new titles regularly, without putting more time to polish those games. It's really unfortunate, because i know that gen's 6-9 had the potential and could've been great games, but instead we got... this mediocre mess. Also, the sad reality is that modern Pokemon games do and will sell, no matter how much effort is put into them, which gives Nintendo no good reason to make those games the best they can be.
rewatching the video , its hilarious how you complain this game is "Unfinish" when its the most complete game compared to any main pokemon game on switch .
To top it all off, if they even wanted to be so faithful to the original, why not just PORT the original games to the E-Shop? No extra money spent. No ILCA. FAITHFUL as they wanted. It would have been kind of lame, yeah, but at least the new generation could have had a change of seeing what good Pokémon was (if they ported Platinum as well of course).
Okay wait Don't be too unfair with ORAS. Yes, the lack of the Battle Frontier sucked so much BUT the Delta Episode was handled so good in my opinion. It actually managed to feel like you're suddenly playing Pokémon Emerald Also, I am willing to be that the whole, "Kids nowadays are too lazy to play games" was a poorly-thought-out PR statement coz in reality they were actually rushed to get those games out. It was Gen 6 after all
Look at it this way. Gen 1-5 every time I got the games new i beat the main story in its enterity in a couple days. They were so fun i couldnt put them down. I have owned pokemon legends, sword and sheild. Scarlet and violet for months/years now. And i havent even played a quarter of them yet.
