Honestly I'm gonna buy the best van for the money. By the time you want automatic, low mileage, tailgate, specific colour etc, you will NOT find a van within a budget. I'd rather not pay a premium and go for a van within my budget so I can go camping ☺

I have had both, barn door for me, how many times have I been out and about and someone has parked too close that I can’t open the tailgate 😡 specially on LWB. Also packing up barn door so much easier. Tail gate offers no protection from rain if there is any kind of wind (nearly all the time) only thing you have to be carful of with barn door is using your hip to close the door (you will dent the thin skin) by choice I wouldn’t have a window in the rear or the back quarters, insulate and carpet makes for much nicer sleeping pod. Also when you are looking out to see (which in fairness is not going to be very often) barn doors offer protection from the wind. Barn doors so much more practical, so much so I am thinking of changing my van back to a barn door one, just for that reason !
Hi all new to the group, can advise as we are currently looking at vw campers, whots the advantage of 20'' rims over 18'',as I've been lead to believe , tyres are more expensive and harder to get in certain areas, and the ride is not as forgiving as 18'' and mpg not as good, all this helps thanks in advance.
Amazed that you didnt mention the most obvious way to increase mpg. Slow down! Driving at 60 mph versus 70 or 75mph, will save lots of fuel, will be more relaxing, quieter, will decrease wear on your tyres and wont have a huge impact on your journey time, unless you are travelling hundreds of miles on the motorway all in one journey. Driving at 75mph doesn't mean your average speed over the whole journey will be anywhere near 75mph. It will drop much closer to the average speed from the 60 mph journey. Average speed plummets once you leave the motorway.
Very helpful. Camping and couldn't work out why the leisure battery was beeping signalling it was low. Turns out the green button had got knocked off when packing and whilst we were on a 240v hook up and sockets ecetera worked the battery was not getting charged.
Yes it’s a nice campervan like the rest, but to use it as an office as some van lifers do, you need a good electrical system that allows at least a couple of days off grid, able to charge your laptop, camera gear, etc. solar, lithium, and a good inverter are a must. Not everyone uses camp sites and external electrical power. Try 3 or 4 weeks in Norway

Hi, Just bought a Camper king and wondering if the system has to be turned on (top right button pressed) while driving for the vehicle to charge the leisure battery? Or will it charge whenever the vehicle is running.
Has anyone experienced the straps becoming loose despite your making sure they are tight. Not a huge amount but enough to make this paranoid campervanner worry
Why would you demonstrate carrying one bike on the outermost rail? If you're only carrying one bike, you would put it on the innermost rail, it reduces the strain on the rack, it's more secure, and its more sensible. And you've used the wrong clamp arm for a bike on the outer rail anyway, you've had to lean the bike over to reach the clamp arm. There is a short double ended clamp arm which is designed to attach a bike on the outer rail to another bike on the third rail. Also, its easier and more sensible to fit the top tube clamp first before doing up the wheel retention straps
@@CamperKingOfficial seriously? barn door to tailgate is possible but viceversa? i want barn doors but in my country, there is really little barn door equipped vans, also i want 4 motion, which is also a rare option for my country, so my plan is buy a tailgate 4motion, change tailgate to barn doors, isnt it possible? :((
Definitely possible. But only if you DIY because labour costs will probably be as high as half a van 😅 re-routing wiring, locks, latches, brackets, painting parts of the chassis etc
