It's been ten years since I last commented on how you were putting me in a coma :-) This is STILL some of the most beautiful guitar playing... Thank you.
DistortedV12 Its not the number, but your preferences and the quality of the guitar player, lets say PRS: Steven Wilson, Santana, Al Di Meola, Mikael Åkerfeldt, Martin Barre, Alex Lifeson, Mike Oldfield, Gustavo Cerati and a few more of my top 15, on the other hand, just David Gilmour and Adrian Belew uses a Strat, the other guys i like goes mostly with Music man, except Robert Fripp, Jimmy Page (Gibson) and Keith Richards (Tele),so it depends on your taste in music, and even there is a problem, non of them uses exclusively one kind of guitar, exception made maybe for Carlos Santana, all of them uses at least 3 different kinds of them.
Strato = Blues, Clean Rock, Hard Rock, Some metal, etc. Tele = Blues, Clean Rock, etc. PRS = Metal, Hard Rock. LES PAUL = Blues, Clean Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Country.
Gotta laugh at all those "Les Paul" Metalheads. Do they not realise that the king of all metal sounds came from Tony Iommi's SG - which is Gibson's Strat? SGs are closer to a strat in body size, weight and shape, and really only the pickups are different - something the HSS incarnations address. Iommi has been pumping out he big sounds since the late 60's. The first Les Paul user with the big sounds in the hands of long term metal men didnt really arrive until the likes of Zac Wilde and Slash!
David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Uli Jon Roth, Gary Moore and of course Jimi Hendrix are the players you want to see in order to hear the REAL ART to using the Fender Tremolo unit ... this video doesn't do the innovation any justice ... sorry.
Forgot to mention in my last post, my son was playing the PRS through a Line6 MicroSpider amp. The MicroSpider is the BEST portable amp ever invented, great sound, loooong battery life, and LOUD... as loud as a 25 Watt amp.
@toshineon Richie Blackmore, Kirk Hammet, Yngvwie, ...Its not so much the Strat, but what pick ups are in the bridge, and of course how METAL is your Amp. Marshall? Mesa??? ROALND JC ?
Wow, I didn't notice when he changed guitars!! They both sound the same. Who needs a Strat and/or Gibson when you can get the sounds of both in a PRS. I bought a PRS SE Orianthi Signature (paid $625CAD) a few years ago and my son came by and started playing with it. I was in another room and heard some sweet jazz-like tones, then some heavy metal... (a few minutes pause, switch sounds and test notes)... WTF! I thought Billy Gibbons was in my living room!! My son now wants a PRS.
