Our Mission is to Enable Amputees to Live Without Limits.

At Bremer Prosthetics, we believe that you can achieve anything that you set your mind to. Your prosthesis should not be a barrier to you living the life you want.

Our Core Values

People First:
When you come into our clinic, we understand that you are more than a patient, you are a person and deserve to be treated like one. We are here for your medical milestones, and your personal ones.

Beyond Functional Level Treatment:
The expectations of individuals and health care providers are set too low.

No matter what you want to do with your life, we'll figure out how to make a prosthesis that gets you there.

We're Stronger Together:
You're only as strong as the people you surround yourself with.

We're always finding ways to bring amputees together to learn from each others' experiences and build each other up.

My husband got only 6 weeks of PT after btk amputation. The employee Humboldt Sawmills in Scotia CA refused to provide the proper care. It’s a horrible thing that Travelers Insurance treated my husband this way. There is no mercy. Now he will have to pay out of pocket for these things. Never work for a sawmill!

I’m 72 years old and I had my right leg amputated below the knee in March of 2023. I developed a couple of wounds that were not healing because I had bad blood circulation down my leg. My surgeon told me that she would have to amputate my leg again above the knee. I immediately became curious about learning about being an amputee and how to get ready for a prosthetic leg and learning how to walk again. I looked at all kinds of videos about the subject and I am very proud of being able to walk again. I use a walker but I have recently gotten a new socket for my prosthesis. I need to have a larger socket and it has made all the difference in the world. I am aspiring to change to a cane. It’s a process but I am a retired Marine and I’m not used to saying I can’t do something. I will do it….eventually!!!!✝️👍👏👏👏🥹

I simply say, "I'm glad you think so.", and move forward. It took me 5 seconds, literally, to decide, because, where I was, I would have died/been killed by neglect/ in under a month if I tried to "save" my foot. My thought even Before the Surgery was, "Ok, things have now changed, how do I move ahead from here. 1) Learn, 2) Practice, 3) DO". One week in on my new prosthesis and I'm a 6"2" toddler who not afraid to fall down anymore, because the "option" of not being that leads to failure of my goals.

I am a amputate and it has been 2years with several changes to it but I have a pertruding bone at the top of my stump where the skin adhered to the bone and the prosthetic is so heavy and uncomfortable. I want to wear it but it is not working for me. Can you help me find peace and comfort

Sorry to hear ur having issues.U might need to find a different prosthetist that more knowledgeable and caring,or have u heard of the Varos socket (adjustable socket) and Connect tf socket adjustable(Ossur) they can help with ur pain issues, ask ur prosthetist about a trial wear, they are pre made already,ur prosthetist just measure ur stump and adjust the socket to fit u,all done in a few few hours.

Can people who have vascular problems, wear a vacuum system? I have had two lanyard socket and two pinlock sockets and I don’t need new ones yet, but I wonder if I can wear vacuum. Also, can the boa system be put into pin lock above the knee sockets?

I am a fairly new amputee, 12/5/22, BK Everything has gone pretty well. I’ve had many interruptions in the process but I’m happy I did this! I have a life again. I am in a suspension socket, with 9mm gel liner. I start the day with just the liner and as my body heats up, I add a 1 weight sock. My question is regarding blisters … what can I do to avoid this?

To this post, I am not shy at all about my leg. The biggest cringe I get is so many in the community focus on, you have to be an extraordinary-extreme athlete etc. etc. I just want to be extraordinarily ordinary. (And I am). Those that start telling me all about how it is to be an amputee. They watch too much tv.

Piston action, get that, but you seemed to have bypassed the socket/fit. I have the pin BK - wall contact with the liner/limb is so important. Distal contact is minimal, I can not imagine bottoming out. I find this presentation confusing - from someone that has never donned a prosthetic. Do not wish to be snarky but…. Oh 14 years in, very active, accident at 60. However, I have begun to want switch to Vacuum system, due to soft tissue atrophy.

As a below the knee amputee, I'm very thankful to have had Beacon Dr's do my surgery. They are excellent in all that they do. They said they'd have me walking in 6 to 9 weeks. Well 4 weeks later I was up walking around and in 7 weeks I was back to pouring concrete 3 days a week. 14 weeks later, I was back 5 days a week pouring concrete and working 45+ hrs a week. Now I'm back in my work truck and driving to the job and setting and prepping the job for concrete. This past Friday we stamped a job and that was hard because you have to use you get obviously to stomp down on the mats to leave an imprint in the concrete. I was so tired after work that day.

The prosthetist is supposed to be able to lengthen or shorten a prosthetic leg. Why exactly not? You shouldn't have to go back to your doctor or insurance company. What's the reason why your prosthetist won't lengthen or shorten it for you? I'm an aka amputee for 55 years, never had problems until I came to the USA. I've seen three prosthetists and had two poorly made legs. Either they make it too long or too short by adding or removing spacers. I've never in all my 55 years heard of that before. Height is adjusted by shortening the pylon or fitting the correct legth pylon for an aka. I've had endless visits for alignment and they can't get it right. Now they want to make me a second new legblaming components. I've had better and worse components before and never fallen as much as I've fallen on this leg. I keep asking them to make the alignment etc right on the first new leg, before we even consider a second new leg because how do I know they can make the second new leg right if they can't fix alignment on the first few leg. Also they've made me lose functionality and say to me that they weren't there when I had functionality for 55 years so so they have to take my word for it. (honestly!). They also say to me that maybe I'm looking for perfection. (Honestly!) I'm merely looking for the same stability and functions I always had all my life. I've lost so much time and money in gas and no PTO every time I must return for something breaking hurting etc, and they can't relate to that. Now for the third time I been offered a refund by three companies, because they can't help me. Either the leg is too short or too long. And other issues. I can't keep trying out new companies and never get a leg that I'm used to.
