Hi Amy, Im reading the 2nd Lady Hardcastle book and its so slow, I almost dnf'ed, but decided to get through it. I can't wait to get to Blameless. I also have The House Witch, Certain Dark Things (that I didn't get to last spooky season), and Haunting Charlie, a haunted house and witch book. Next, The Haunting of Hillwood Farm, by Kathryn Knight. This one is short, around 200 pages. Grimstone is on my list. I have too many to get to, so might get pushed until Summerween. I forgot about Ninth House. I have that and Atlas Six on one of my shelves. Autumn Thorns 👻 paranormal urban fantasy 💪 😁 Great vlog, now if the temps could stay under 110.
I started a reread of From Below by Darcy Coates last night. I was wanting the type of cozy creepy that she does and I don't know of any other authors doing that. I only liked one Amy Cross book though I have another that sounds more cozy. I hope you like the Haunting of Leigh Harker. That was good and I liked so much about it like the way reality was seen by the two main characters. I can't say more so I won't spoil it.
I have a lot of trouble with my inner ear, too, and suffer from vertigo it's pretty miserable. Glad you're getting the garage doors sorted out. I always enjoy the importance of being Earnest, loved the film with Colin Firth and Rupert Everett. Mood reading Halloween cozy mysteries just now. I have a huge October tbr with lots of dark, spooky, spoopy and Fall vibes books.
Hi Amy, my ears have been plugged since covid. I'm trying to plug my nose and pop my ears. Vertigo if I move my head while laying down only, knock wood. Taking Benadryl at night has helped. I'm reading the 2nd Lady Hardcastle book before reading Blameless, book 3 in the Parasol Protectorate series. I'm in a good reading groove. The House Witch series after that...maybe 😊 I love travel and quest books. Sounds good. Map of the Otherlands...Oops, I forgot about that, I have it. I wasn't a big fan of book 1, was gifted book 2. Cooper, can you get any more handsome and cute? 😺
I’m sorry you’re having ear issues too. I had having vertigo and plugged ears! Glad your reading is going well. Happy to hear you’re continuing to Blameless because I know how hard that is with the end of Changeless. Love that series. Can’t wait to hear how you like the House Witch. Yeah, Cooper is cute and he knows it. Thanks!
Here is what I'll be reading in Oct. Certain Dark Things, Grave Expectations, Haunting Charlie, book 1 of Witches of Palmetto Point. The Haunting of Hillwood Farm (very short) and September House. 👻
Hi Amy, Grimstone sounds great. I haven't read The Atlas Six either, but its on my list. Darcy Coates needs to be on October lists. Fun video. Happy reading.
I'm taking part in Spookoplathon,Tbr Harvest, Victober and Golden Girls Murder Mystery readathon ( October is going to be interesting) Small town big magic and The Atlas Six unfortunately didn't work for me. Enjoyed Garden Spells and The Return. Some new releases I'm going to read in October are So Thirsty Rachel Harrison, The village library demon hunting society C.M. Waggoner, Fang Fiction Kate Stayman-London, Impractical Magic Emily Grimoire and The Bloody Ruin Asylum & Taproom Seana Kelly.
Varney the Vampire is enormous! I know Jennifer loved it though. If you want something light I think the Margaret Oliphant books will fit that description, the Carlingford Chronicles is a delight. I’m also reading The Haunted House and really looking forward to it as a mash up of great Victorian authors. Enjoy Amy!
Hello Jo! Good luck with all your reading! I know Varney is big. I hope to at least get through part of it. And good to know that Carlingford are a delight. I want to get to everything. Thanks!
The closest I'll get to Victober is another Parasol Protectorate book. I'm almost finished with Changeless. Love it. I finally have the first 3 House Witch books. I've got my sense of smell back and can taste coffee, but not most food. Im feeling fine. I hope your dad is fully recovered. I like your dad, wine, rock hound, and books! 😁 The Haunted House sounds good. Varney the Vampire 😲 that is massive. Happy reading Amy 📚
Good luck with your reading! Glad you’re getting back your sense of smell. Hopefully you’ll get over the other symptoms soon. My dad is doing much better! Thanks!
I love the JD Robb series but I stopped reading regular Nora Roberts awhile ago. I may have to start back up and try The Awakening series though. Sounds good!
I read a lot of Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy myself! I have been reading them for years now. I also read Romantasy now for the last couple of years as well.
Hi Amy, Im so happy you liked Awakening, the para Nora. I need Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series and Grave Importance, or rather, the series. The first 3 books you finished are totally different from each other, and all sound so good! I don't think I could read Guild. I'm not a huge fan of "captured women" tropes, but you loved it so....??? I loved throne of glass series, but it took a couple books. I wondered if you had read Bridge kingdom. I finished the first in The Parasol Protectorate series and I loved it. It's been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. I'm on to book 2. Ooh, Grimstone sounds great too. Thank you. My favorite booktuber. 💐 📚 PS, I feel a book buying binge coming on. 😃
I’m glad you’re enjoying your reading. I’m just trying to get to all kinds of books and series. I want you to read everything right now. 🤣 I completely understand about Gild, but it’s definitely a book series that I didn’t expect to like but just adore. Definitely not something everyone will like. Happy reading! Thanks!
Here is an idea for a video, show us how to set up a database for books. I was trying to see if goodreads had a thing that would help me know what books I had had a small page count of 200 or less because I am behind on my reading challenge. Then I thought if I had my own book database...and then I remembered you had one...I don't know anything about databases.
I read that Nicole Peeler book back in the day primarily because of the Maine setting. I did not like it enough to carry on with the series. I found it too silly. On the other hand, I am a huge Mercy Thompson fan. I think the books get better and better.
The only older virgin that was believable for me was Sookie Stackhouse because she could hear the guy’s thoughts and that would freak her or the guy out. I go back and forth with the Mercy Thompson series.
Patricia Briggs, Moon called is, so so. They do get better and you read more about other beings, like vampires, trolls, fae, etc. Her other series, the first book is great. Alpha Omega series?? Yesterday was the first day under 100, in 113 days 😁 finally I can't remember what series I had of Keri Arthur, but I do remember I donated that series after not completing the first book. She isn't for me. This was at least a decade ago. I was dog sitting for a dig with congestive heart failure yesterday. Unfortunately, she passed away. We knew it could happy, but still......my first attempt at being social. Thanks.
Maybe you should try some comedy albums I know some of them have tracks up on RU-vid so you could look up the album pick a couple tracks and see if this comedians style interest you Here’s three 1. Minnie pearl 2. Peter sellers 3. Bob new hart You call it a comedy taste test . Just a random idea for you .
Primal Law, I had the same sort of problem with Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld. The first book had a neat sounding world building thing but the second was like it was a whole different book not at all like what I expected what woman writes that or wants to read that? And there is no such thing as a pack leader or the alpha male and all that the scientist who invented that term was studying captive wolves who behaved differently and when he tried to correct everyone no one listened because society really liked that alpha male pack leader excuse to bully and be an asshole idea. It also caused a lot of animals to suffer with short creeps like Cesar Millan who calls himself the Dog Whisperer inventing this techinique to control dogs and made boocoos of money off it but really only taught people to be bullies and control their animals with fear and indirect 'promises' of punishment if they didn't do as told. I hate all that alpha male crap whether it is in dog training or in romances.
Im reading Soulless, A Parasol Protectorate novel, and I adore it! I need to try Tad Williams. I used to live epic fantasy 🤔 I'm sorry your dad has covid. I just started being able to smell some things. I can't taste anything. I've never made a pre order. What is wrong with me? 😊
I love Soulless! And I’ll always recommend Tad Willams but I’ve been reading him for years. I’m sorry you’re still having after effects. My dad seems to be doing good. Thanks!
Listening to Apprentice to the Villain at the moment. Really want to read Somewhere beyond the sea. Just got Brothersong from the library. I'm looking to pick up Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw this month. I've never read Tad Williams before. What would you suggest I start with? Also rant away! I'd be mad, too. And JUST BECAUSE is totally justified reasoning for buying books. 😇
All good books!!! I always recommend The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams, 1st book in the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series. I’m bias but it’s one of my favorite books and series of all time. Thanks!
I read the Anita Blake back in the beginning, in the 90s, but didn’t like the direction it went. Just my opinion. There are definitely so many books left to try! Thanks!
@@ZoeBeck7 it's not for everyone. I loved them until Obsidian Butterfly, then skimmed them. I long for the days of more story, less kinky weirdness with Anita being so short, powerful, and everyone's, everything 😆 Your two picks sounded great.
@@surpriseitsus9622 Yup, Obsidian Butterfly was the end for me. Really the book before but I don’t think I finished Obsidian Butterfly. Oh well. I loved the beginning.
You are my favorite book tuber. You have a section of Urban Fantasy, with demons! Seriously, I just love paranormal and urban fantasy. This is epic! ❤ 📚
I’m listening to a Kolchach book now cry of thunder it’s team up with Sherlock Holmes but what really is two separate stories some how connected . First part of the book involves kolchach getting a manuscript, which is Sherlock Holmes story
I have so many unread urban fantasy books, too. I'm going to try and read some in October. Autumn Thorns sounds like my cup of tea added it to my tbr. I do try a chapter with my library books to choose which ones I want to read. I should do it more with my physical books.
I hope the shift helps with the enjoying and focus of your reading. I totally understand putting away stuff that you aren't focused on, I think it's a really good practice. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and showing the process! Including the help, cat purrs included 😼
Can you update us on how your exercising routine is going? I wont be walking outside until November. It's still 110 degrees (today) and finally down to 102 by the weekend, but still too hot, even at night.
Thanks for asking! I forgot to update on my weekend update but I’m still walking on the treadmill 3x a week. Still on track! And that it way to hot to walk in! 🥵
I'm figuring out the exact same thing. I've been disappointed by epic fantasy, or I postponed reading them. They are in the spare bedroom, not on my reading shelves. I donated a bunch of contemporary romance I know I'll never read, and I do not miss them. Have a great week, Amy. 📚
I did the same with contemporary romance decades ago as well. It’s weird that my reading is changing so much that I need to move the books but I think this will be good for me! Thanks!
I think it makes sense to move the books you feel uncomfortable about reading to another place. The next step will probably be unhauling a few of them but it is a good first step 👍
I definitely go through phases with what kinds of books I gravitate towards. Makes sense to move those that aren’t calling to you out of your direct line of sight.
I got bogged down in the middle of A Court of Wings and Ruins (all the battle scenes). I finished it but have not yet gotten up the gumption to start book 4 in ACOTAR series.
I'm needing more Lady Hardcastle in my reading life. I think I'll order some tonight, hopefully used. I did finish Apprentice To the Villain, liked it, now I'm reading Vera Wongs Unsolicited Advice.... I'm almost done. It's ok. I wish I could listen to audio books. I just can't focus. 😔 Grave Importance sounds good 👍 I still need to get to the House Witch series too. I havent read any of ACATAR. I read and Loved The Thorn Of Glass series. I liked Fourth Wing and said so on another channel. I was bombarded with so many negative comments I almost cried. WTH, I didn't write it.... Ooh, I want to read some para Nora too! I need a used book store asap! You read a lot! Well done. I'm missing your daily vlogs. I understand why you don't want to do that now, but I got very used to it. Thanks 😆
I’m sorry you had a bad experience with comments. Some people just can’t be nice. Sounds like your reading is going well. Vlogging was fun but it’s hard to do all the time. At least for me. Happy reading!
