By the time I'd joined RU-vid, almost 99% of the archival recordings were already uploaded. So my part is to upload rest of the 1% recordings and do justice to the already uploaded recordings by sharing them with wider audience.
My name is Gandhar Rao and I'm a profound listener of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. I aim to bring to you the very best of Indian Classical Music. I've not recorded any of these recordings. These are the gems preserved by various genuine collectors who wish to open their treasures for us.

This is from a performance during the Rama Navami celebrations at Kote High School, Bangalore. I think it was 1994. Panditji arrived very late to the program and tried to lighten the air with some jokes (one liners) before starting.
Each of his interpretations of this raga is different. My earliest recollection is from 1983-84 December music festival in Madras. During a concert at the Krishna Gana Sabha he sang Bhimpalas in the first half. Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman (the violin maestro) was in the front row. Panditji sang a brief alap and i think some of nuances were quite unique that prompted Shri Jayaraman to query what ragam it was. Panditji announced that it was Bhimpalas and then proceeded to do an alap for nearly 15 minutes! and there was thunder and ferocious rain outside. and grandeur of this raga was quite remarkable. Very different from the Lakshmi Vilas palace interpretation. I wish someone could post that concert (he sang 2 days or so later in music academy. It was a disaster. Showed up 1 and half hours late and sang barely for 60 minutes.). Has Yaman in the first half and Darbari Kanada in the second. Audience made requests in the second half and concert ended around 12.30 at night. Hari
