Hello, I love how you play the holo and in general how you have it built. Do you have an updated build on hand of how you play it now? and how is it now? thank you.
And do you consider it ideal to survive? I am starting in the Holo and I've seen that survives many meetings that as a rule, you should die. And I like the class but I fear that I do not have ... I separated that you build is very different from the rest, very balanced.
I'm not a fan of sword, mace complements the build better imo and pistol allows you to apply more pressure at range. Vs WB don't hurry, with super speed you can kite them well, but you have to dodge / block / blind the engagements. Ram is amazing unless they're running a lot of stab, and in that case they might lack other things (like cond removal, so the mortar fields will be stronger vs them).
@@Algeyr I am more wondered, that allies has came to help, cuz in most cases i see on your videos or on another youtube channels, player vs 3-5 enemies, pvp in gw2 is so unfair. I also want to ask the universe "Where all players on map or we are playing every time in wrong side" ._.
@@judgegorfel2128 Usually I'm running around solo by choice. I make scouting calls if there's something I think is relevant for another group of the server, but other than that and a few skirmishes in-between I just like to play that way.
@@Algeyr I understand your style, but I mean when you're alone against a group, it looks like you're a hero of Call of Duty or Shadow of Mordor, alone against a lot of resistance 🤣
@judgegorfel2128 it usually on what server you represent as for me in NA server blackgate, maguma, FA, DH, SoS, yak bend is quite active for wvw play and gvg content.
nice one, so for holo going into forge is both considered weapon swap to activate your cleanse sigil and also a utility belt use to cleanse 1 condi from tools trait line?
Entering doesn't remove a condition with Mechanized Deployment (leaving does) - I guess they didn't want it to trigger twice. All other TB trigger traits and weapon swap sigils do work with entering and exiting though.
I took your build as a basis and swap tools on inventions, pistol on mace, elixir gun on spectrum shield. It turned out to be fun. Good CC, mobility, not a bad sustain. The relic of the demon queen proved to be especially good. (I hope google translate has conveyed my thoughts correctly 😅)
This video makes me bummed out. Like this game design is so bad. There is no strategy or thought at all, just spewing out random clutter abilities. It didn't use to be this way.
Why don't you go into wvw and just throw out random abilities outnumbered and see how that goes for you. That's a ridiculous statement you don't just spam random shit unless you're bad sorry.
@@alcoholictaco9278 As a rev, you better be hitting those buttons as fast as possible in order to legend swap. Similar with all other classes, you are occupied trying to put everything on cooldown as fast as possible, in correct order (as you point out)
Kiting, CC and/or blind are usually more important in those situations because the extra healing won't hold up to the damage you take from multiple opponents. Those fields are best used when you have more time (low pressure phases) to recover. Even in hindsight, there's few moments I'd try to slip in a field, instead of just trying to get away and prevent more incoming damage.
@@Algeyrthe fields are best utilized with blasts and leaps, not sitting in. So in the countless times you were running away you could of used ur heal kit for a field + blast and leap AS ur running away for a quick 5k heal, same with ur mortar kit heal field! Just a tip ! 😊
@@Dwragon. That doesn't heal for 5k, but about like ~1,3k (+400 if you get the impact / a tick of mortar water field). I get what you're saying, but there's little time for combos there, when 3 players are after you, taking 1/2 sec + the little kit switch delay to heal for that amount might just get you killed. Yes, if you look at it in retrospective I might have not been hit by an attack doing more damage than I healed in that time, but in the moment, you do not know that. At one or two points I did combo - with ice field. Because slowing your opponents, getting out of reach or line of sight is the way to survive there. Not going for a bit of extra healing while under pressure from multiple opponents.
@@Algeyr 1 Blast/leap heals for around 1344~ using your "default" build. So 1 medkit 3 (the field) + 1 medkit 5 (blast) + 1 holo leap = a solid 2.7k~ heal. Being able to even throw in a shield 4 or holo 5 when possible. Using mortar kit you even get 1 tick. And all of this is possible while holding W and not stopping AT ALL. Not including all the condition clears that come with medkit 3/egun 5 (while standing in them). You don't even use medkit 4 which is just a normal heal. Thankfully holo is a very forgiving class with a low skill floor! Point is just know you're not utilizing everything you have! Hope you're more open to criticism in the future!
@@Dwragon. If you want to split hairs over writing "~1,3k" heal instead of "1344~" I'm getting a better idea with what I'm dealing with here. Let's take a look at the chase then from 1:00 , focusing on the out of /before forge periods bc, well, I can't setup fields in forge: At 1:00 I'm using shield 4 to prevent projectile hits and setup CC, then go for a blind to prevent hits, then block to prevent hits. After shield 5 I throw it, but one is not in line and I can't confirm the hit (the guard had aegis, but tbh I don't know if I recognized that before in that moment). I immediately switch to holo and leap because I don't want to a moment more close to two Willbenders than I have to. At 1:15 I do setup fields but opt for blind + chill follow up to gain frost armor. Healing instead might have been better there or not. It's a choice I made on the spot. At 1:25 I could have done a medkit water field before, but the charr wb dodged the CC, was right around the corner and I wanted to try to break LOS asap. In hindsight, I think I could have done this here. But in return I might have been hit with one or two more attacks because I didn't generate distance sooner. At 1:36 I might have been downed if I took time to lay down fields. Especially if I wanted to setup medkit 5 before. At 1:44 With 4 people on me, no way I'm more likely to survive setting up and comboing fields. At 1:54 I set up fields, but prioritize blind and slow, because again, my hope is preventing multiple hits doing more damage than a heal combo would heal, and making it around the next corner with my opponents chilled and slow to catch up to get time. Due to the dodge I missed the chill combo though. Still, this might have let to the situation that just let me revive in time. I'm sure that if you do a frame by frame analysis, you'll find some moments a heal combo would have fit in, but that's in hindsight. In advance I don't know if I'll have the time for it, or will receive more damage within the time I invest in it. I'm not playing perfectly, but I doubt anyone makes only perfect choices and executes them perfectly. Your advice applies to some encounters but isn't universally applicable - Heal combos can be very important and helpful, but in these kinds of situations they are usually barely viable. Even when I explain my choices, you insist on your points without considering my perspective. That's not constructive criticism, it's nitpicking. About "utilizing everything": you don't have time to utilize everything in this build all the time. That's what makes it interesting to play. Often you are bottle-necked on time, not on CDs. I'm open to discussing situations and choices as long as your criticism is constructive and you are willing to have your suggestions being questioned as well.
That was quite the fight! It's really impressive to see how effective the holosmith is for roaming on this patch. Back when I used to roam, I'd always find myself dealing with stun squads jumping on me, haha. By the way, what's your ping like when you play?
Tbh, Holo hasn't gotten a lot lately and generally you have to be more careful, because things you have to play around (projectile hate, stab, resistance and CCs) have been getting more prevalent. It's a very flexible build though and I like figuring out how to use what in which matchups :) And mobility is your main survival tool, especially 1vsX or when facing counters. The days where I didn't upload stuff because 2/3 of the recordings made Holo look OP are over :D
@@Algeyr It's true, mobility is essential with this class, as well as quick perception, which is a challenge for me due to my slightly higher ping. I feel like if it were around 30, I could do much better. Your videos are great, keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Yeah, as far as I can tell there is a skill q priority that comes into play when activating skills (defensive ones like blocks and heals seem to have a higher ones, also some CCs), so some skills will cancel others instead of q'ing, and/or don't get canceled by others with higher priority. Med kit f1 does not have a higher priority assigned afaik. So activating certain other skills before the cast has finished will cancel it. These priorities also seem to apply to general server skill lag - skills of lower priority are more likely to not activate or do so with delay.
Start with a bit tankier gear - it might be a worse choice in the end but it gives you more time to learn from fights. Try to find opponents of a skill level that allows you to win at least sometimes or have close fights. You can learn from losses, but if they outplay you hard, it's difficult to see what approach actually leads in the right direction, because if you do some things better, you might not actually notice it. Ask your opponents for advice on the matchups, decent players usually know what works against them.
Hey, I'm fairly new to game but I've been playing a lot of Holo in sPvP and perform decently. I've yet to play WvW and I would like to get into roaming, but I'm unsure about what ascended gear I should aim to get first. I'll stick with SnS for now as I didn't like pistol all that much. (3-2 is pretty damn good burst) I'm thinking about getting full marauder since Sukaya apparently runs full Dragon's (which I can't get without EoD). What do you think ? Would you complement marauder with something else ? Thanks!
You can try out what feels best for you with exotics, and there are recipes to switch ascended stats with the mystic forge so you're not completely locked in. A lot of stats can work well for Holo, what exactly you want depends on your build, playstyle, experience and the meta / what builds you're most likely to run into.
Hey man! I love your gameplay and I'm always looking forward to the next video, no matter how long or short it may be. I tried engineer a few times, but I'm not intimately familiar with it. Can you please explain to me, why you're constantly switching back and forth between certain passives when out of combat? That kinda keeps me up at night at this point. 😅
The thing that triggers me about engis is that when I look at arcdps afterwards, 60% or more of their total damage comes from explosive entrance... not that I can really blame them because engi isn't particularly strong without it, but it still seems pretty silly. Similar to condi builds with doom sigil, except that you lose the doom sigil effect if it's evaded, whereas EE stays until you land a hit.
No, you lose it on blind / block / dodge. You only keep it if the attack doesn't hit anything at all (shooting into the air / ground). That's one of the primary reasons why mirror matches can snowball quite hard, you hit first, they are blinded, now they lose their trigger. If you keep that pattern up you'll easily come out on top of trades.
