iirc, the entire dragon of Mar story is an allegory for Gildedguy's (the animator's) relationship with Barthimo, who's the guy that created Mar (the dragon and also actually just a dude who happens to have long hair). And the gold obsessed character who killed Mar in the end was supposed to represent Mar's fanbase. Loyal and loving him right up until they saw the damage he caused... which is in relation to the fact that Barthimo is allegedly a pedophile. And so his fans' actions mattered the most when it came to the aftermath and they chose to turn on him in order to do whatever they could to set things right. Barthimo has since completely disappeared from the community and probably isn't coming back, hence why Mar seemingly went directly to hell afterwards. I wasn't a part of the community at the time, so I'm going off of what I've heard other people talking about. But that's also apparently why the group that have been trapped inside the dragon's stomach (who represent all of Barthimo's victims) includes at least one child.
