Like the Paris scene of the 1930s, this is the Turkish/Istanbul scene of today. A new amazing genre that combines Anatolian and Sufi traditions and contemporary jazz. This music will stand the test of time.
Cool to see these guys are migratory, moving from gig to gig in the middle of the afternoon. Somebody needs to engage this guy to produce a soundtrack. Can't help but believe these guys could play a song about anything, any time. If I needed a soundtrack I'd want to find somebody majority playful, and not just like Brian Eno who seems to be a true master with a mix.Ilhan should see to it that his favorite filmmakers have something to listen to on their Air Pods.
I like this guy a lot. I would wager if he plays chess he's good at that too. He makes me wonder what listening to this guy on some Istanbul corner would be cool. Would it be like Havana? You know these guys would be thoroughly appreciated in Havana.
