If both my parents were born in Italy, can I apply for citizenship with just both their Italian birth certificates and do i need anything else?! Do i need to currently be living there as well?
We live in the US and plan to move to Southern Italy next spring. My wife has her Italian citizenship by descent done. I will will need to do the Elective retirement visa process as I will take 2 years to pass if ever the B1 exam. Question is passive funds. Can I count my wife’s pernsion to make The 38K requirement for a couple. Or must I do it on my own. Thanks
Hi Im trying to get the family tree but they cant find one of the ancestors death certificate. Is there a doc I could get stating that? Would they accept it
I have been issued an Elective Residency Visa because I make enough stable passive income, and I own a home in Sardinia. Am I able to be self-employed at my own company while I live in Italy on My Elective Residency Visa, or is working of any sort not permitted? Please note, I will not work for any company based in the EU, I will only work remotely for US-based clients. Also, am I able to AirBnB a second property in Italy that I own (not my primary residence)? Thanks for your assistance.
Thank you for the video. But I am confused. If both a bank account and some Italian credit cards have an IBAN number , the how can you possibly know that the IBAN you are asked to send the money belongs to a credit card (and you should not trust it) and not to a bank account?
Thank you Marco and Rafael for this information. I am hoping to purchase a property in Italy in 2025, and I am concerned about the process. This is helpful, and I will be contacting Marco when I am ready to move forward.
So, if I am following this correctly, if I will retire with $1700 per month from U.S. social security, I will not qualify because that would be less than $31,000 per year?
I have watched and loved many of your videos because I have gotten a lot of information. I do wish you could concentrate a whole lot more on the retiree who would like to live in Italy. That is my situation and the only way I could come over would be to get that kind of Visa. Thank you for all your informative videos.

i have contacted this firm multiple times and they never respond ! HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL
I volunteer at the genealogy room at our local library and had a patron that wanted help to find the documents needed to qualify for dual citizenship. I did not have any experience with this and found your videos very informative. I plan to inform your channel to our patron and to future inquiries. Thank you.
So, wait, what???? I cannot use all these original italian documents for grand and great grand parents that it took us forever to obtain? How am I supposed to get some recent signature when the guy died a hundred years ago? Like, what? All this time I have only ever heard that we needed original birth certificates for parents, grand and greats....we got those....and now you're saying I cannot use them????????????
Good day sir! I learnt that those with carta soggiorno UE for long term doesn’t require the B1 Language exam, how true is this? Kindly waits your swift response.. Joe
I am in the process of getting my dad’s birth certificate..he is deceased. I have to get a court order to be able to request the birth certificate from the county clerk.
Thank you for this very informative video. Question: You mention that documents must be recent. Are documents that are 2 years old and have been apostilled acceptable?
Great presentation! Quick question if anyone can answer about the ERV, if your pension income is only half the required minimum, would they consider assets amounting to 6 or 7 figures?...
My GGF was Italian and through that connection I'd like to request IT citizenship. However, all papers were lost in WWI, WWII and Balkans wars. I don't even have his birth certificate. I'm pretty sure documents were lost in IT during time, as well. I don't know much about my GGF so I can't provide info. Should I keep on going that way, or simply quit and go for another visa type? Thanks! 😊
I just heard something on another podcast that troubled me. So I'm Dual citizen but my wife is not. So if we retire to Italy until she gets her ' permesso di soggiorno' which can take a year or more, we cannot travel to other EU ??!! But we can travel outside EU. Is this true?
I am going though the JS process now.. what I don't understand is that the total number of the people in the world that could get an Italian passport is something like 80-90 million people. How is Italy, this small country, not over run with wealthy people from all those other places that would get an Italian passport and live in Italy? I have met so many people that knows someone going through the process. I would love to know what the current demand for JS actually is now.
I currently have all my certified documents, all my translated requirements, and my Apostles completed. My “PROBLEM” is I have been trying to get an appointment to send my documents to Los Angeles consulate and within 1 min of requesting my “prenota”, I get a banner stating ALL appointments are taken and I am to try again the next day. This has been going on since the beginning of March 2024 and I have saved all my screen shots. Would it be faster for me to just try and apply thru the Italian courts under the 1948 law even though my father was born 1913 and grandpa didn’t Naturalize until 1918?
Interesting. Similar to you, my father was born in 1913 and my grandfather naturalized in 1918. I'm going back to his comune end of the year with all my apostilled docs and apply there (in Sicilia). BTW, that comune sent me my grandfather's birth certificate free of charge. You can do it! To hell with the American consulates. Cataldo Patti
My grandfather is from Caiazzo and grandmother is from Alvignano. I’m thinking of doing the same thing. Going to grandpas commune to apply. The crazy part is my daughter was able to get an appointment with the consulate after 4 months of daily requesting a Prenota. The website said additional members could attach their application and documents. Once they got her paperwork a week later they sent mine back. Said I have to get my own appointment. I have been signing in daily since March 3. No such luck. I do have screen shots of every sign in. Wish you the best of luck. By the way what town in Sicily? We have a home in Sambuca di Sicilia
Even if YTuber knows a lot, why would you ask them about possibile ramifications of political moves in Italy. Why not contact the consulate? Just as about visas? They are the professionals, the official body who know. Even the lawyer is just a lawyer. Otherwise I love listening all the episodes again and again, I love the talk of the dream of Italy. I'd love to hear more about the first practicalities like electricity, water, waste, gas. Are there platforms which you can use to compare prices, how to go about making the contracts aso.
I am currently in Italy and my comune is going to reject me for this minor reason! I try to explain to them this information but they don’t want to listen
I have a French permanent resident permit. Does moving to Italy apply to those who are not French, but have the permit I do? If so, can I import my household goods and drive my car there which is registered in France? What about health care in Italy? I have health care in France, so I assume I must register.
