I set up this channel to put the odds and ends videos that don't fit on my other channels. Usually videos showing short operations (like making a specific type of cut to include in a website article, but can be anything at all - no rules on what I show here.

As usual, take everything you see here as entertainment or a source of inspiration - these are not comprehensive tutorials and should not be taken as definitive instruction on how to do an operation or how to use a tool. It's up to the viewer to learn and understand how to safely use the tools they choose to work with.

Sadly when you expose an idea like this to a large audience , there will be people who dont listen and will think they can just wang a hole through a powerboard wherever they like . That's life.

The is so stupid and not safe at all, don’t do this in your home or business. By doing this you just made the power strip lose its UL rating, you also let the manufacturer off the hook should something go wrong.

I actually prefer the two pushsticks simply because there is absolutely zero possibility of my hand touching the blade. To me this single fact puts all the L shaped push sticks into 2nd place. I know what you are saying about the stock lifting up but you can always push it back down with the other push stick. I have only had a couple of kickbacks over the years of using this technique and I can honestly say they were my fault and not the technique. Also if users do not have a riving knife they are just asking for trouble imho. I know I am in the minority who favour the pushsticks over the L shoe type but that's just how I feel about it. I just do not feel comfortable reaching over to within striking range of a saw blade when there absolutely is a better alternative that 100% guarantees you will never lose your hand or fingers. If your hand is within striking distance then the potential for your hand coming in contact with the blade is much much higher simply because your hand is in range. I accept the extra risk of a kickback because a kick back is less likely to leave me with a permanent injury although I am not saying it's impossible. The table saw is very dangerous and it's always a risk no matter how careful one is. I think the main thing is that it is highly respected as many accidents happen through complacency even from those who are otherwise very competent. I think your new design at the end was good. I have a plan to make something similar but what I was thinking was making it with more weight at the front to let gravity assist in holding the stock down. I would also design a secondary stick to compliment the main one. I was thinking of one that maybe had a thin piece that could fit into the cut (groove) so that it could be used behind the saw blade without causing a pinching effect which would increase the danger of kickback. Thanks for the video. 😊

There are macrophages in the lungs that break down these fibers. Asbestos is thin enough that it disrupts the macrophages and they become cancerous. Fiber glass can remain in the lungs for around a year. Rockwool can remain for 6 to 8 months. I'm not sure about synthetic fibers, but if I had to guess it might be a few weeks.

I tried this method of wire brad removal on a small forest of brads thru a 2x4 I wanted to reuse. It worked okay on the first brad, but then the 2nd brad broke during the extraction process. Looking closely at what went wrong I concluded that on the 2nd brad the pliers put too much lateral pressure on the brad & caused it to break. I thought "maybe the key is simply to pull the brad out as close to perfectly vertically in line with its shaft - its strongest dimension?" So, for the next few brads I put a cat's paw right angle crowbar at the base of the wire brad and grabbed the protruding brad shaft at the cat's paw with my pliers. Then I pried out the brad using the leverage of the crowbar, while holding the brad shaft tightly in the jaws of the pliers. As the brad starting coming out, I moved the crowbar down to the wood surface and the pliers down to the crowbar and levered up again. Each brad came out fairly cleanly, and no tapping required. I think the materials science & engineering principle involved is pulling wire brads out as perfectly straight outward as possible so that your withdrawal force minimizes shear. In fact, the ideal withdrawal tool would grasp the entire visible shaft of the wire brad and pull it straight out using controlled leverage against the wood surface.

Sinking screw holes through live electronics makes me uncomfortable, and certainly voids the UL listing. For example it's no longer double insulated. My favorite way for many applications is just to use the existing screw mount that comes with most power strips. If you don't want to use screws for some reason, velcro tape.

Been an avid viewer for many years now, have learnt a lot from you. Skills and experience are built up over time and you constantly develop and improve. Bought a cheap 3D printer about six months and have not used it much. Did not want to just print and stupid stuff. Again a new skill I have to learn, using tinkercad for basic designs. Only recently did I learn you could scale files to fit printer bed 😊. My plan is to create jigs and fixings for improving my woodwork in my basic small shed.

This was Gary Busey's "helmet" rant about why he didn't wear one, until the day he crashed his motorcycle and nearly died of a head injury. Then he realized "safety" is always going to look "safe" until something unforeseen happens. It's then and only then that you'd wish you were taking further safety measures.

It’s great seeing you and I’m looking forward to watching your recent videos. I been having health issues and haven’t been too skippy lately. I’m looking up now and happy to see you still kickin it over idiots and stuffed shirts. It’s true what you say about all the freedoms we’ve lost as young folks are blind to it. I’ve felt particularly alone with that scary recognition. The good ole days are the best just minus the 3D printer options.

I'm sure you've been asked this already but does the touch and feel of your 3D printed tools vs wood "bother" you? From weight to plastic vs wood? Curious as you've obviously mastered the wood medium and seem quite sold on the 3D printing medium (from cost, time and quality)

I use DeArrow to combat clickbait titles and thumbnails. While they ask you to buy a licence for $1, you can click "can't/don't want to buy" below to get it for free. The dollar helps the developer to keep the lights on. You might have heard of his other project: SponsorBlock (a community driven reporting feature, which time-span is a sponsored segment and can be skipped. you can also define other common scenarios as skip, such as intro/outros, non-music in a music video, interaction reminders, etc.)

Not to be a buzzkill, but I doubt anything with regards to freedom of operation and freedom of speech will ever get better. The trend is the opposite, where with each new year we have more of our personal responsibility whittled away, and that soaks into everything. And as it happens, young people are only used to how it is for them now - as in they never have experienced the level of freedom their parents did, and their parents didn't experience the freedom that their parents had, on down the line. And finally, it isn't YT's fault - they are just running the platform in a way that best serves the users. It's the users that shape what we are living through.

I personally really liked the new video, caught my eye because you don't see a lot of Wood AND 3D printed projects. I think it had some uniqueness to it for that reason. Plus, frankly, I think 3D printing projects from someone who isn't a 3D printing die hard are so much better than the guys out there who think 3D printing is the only way to make things. It comes out in your design and approach. And while the knife sharpener was this, I personally love projects that mix materials like the bandsaw. If you need something large and flat, it's pretty dang hard to beat wood (or metal), but when the complexity goes up 3D printing sure starts to make a lot of sense.

John, this whole thing sends me around the twist and makes my blood boil. Everything nowadays is such a farce and political correctness has gone through the roof. Just like yourself I'm at an age where i say what i think and do not need RU-vid or anyone else to tell me what i think or say isnt allowed. They then have the audacity to say it's "Progress" to me its just another way of being controlled by someone who has a little authority in their job's. I happen to completely agree with you wholeheartedly about the comments situation, the amount of time's that I have put a comment on a video and its not even registered with the channel. Recently I was banned from leaving any comments for 24 hrs just for using a profanity which wasn't even a profanity but someone in RU-vid wanted to say it wasn't allowed, but yet this word had been said around 3 times in the video itself and has been used in countless of other video's on RU-vid. Sorry for the rant but this imbeciles really grin my gears 😳🤯. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧 🫡.
