I "discovered" the Bee Gees in 2013 after living in Chicago,all my life. As I grew, radio stations banned their music! No Bee Gees here!. Yet, even without radio play in the USA, the brothers rose from a poor background to International Fame. Mostly through Hard work and innate talent. I reveal the harm that was done to them in the USA beginning in July of '79 at a Disco Demolition, and through most of the 80's by the US radio industry. (B.Gs BEST & the WORST of US RADIO). Stalwart Bee Gee fans know what we missed having their music shunned. There were several big hits in Europe et. al. that we never heard! So they wrote for others, and their genius composing skills were illuminated! Watch (B Gs BEST FOR OR WITH OTHERS) and you will be amazed!
This year (2015) I am finally "reaching out".to mostly female Legends and and up and coming musical STARS. Much talent there Enjoy! I predict this will be the Decade of the Female Singer. Wait and See. It will happen!
Bee Gees to me were not about the disco era, they were the British ballads of the late 1960s early 70s with so many hits. Robin had a voice of an angel.

Our rob n our mo was round the corner from us and lived near by, we are so proud of our local lads the twins nif you think you know they funny, u dnt know them, they were hilarious and once in our home town of Manchester they nearly made m e and one me mates laugh so hard we nearly lost our drinks, mo was silly n did these eyes brows lifts n walk sideways was fun. Wen we all were playing out. N them ginnels were really freezing cold n always soaking wet. Drizzle and rainy. But kids being just that, n poor barry having to chase after them but also joining in too wen he couldn't be beaten, a great guiding big brother all the time, bless them n to us a massive loss massively n still to this day cant believe it like unreal that we wont see the smiles that lit up that grey drizzled streets see again. It still hurts n as time is allowed to pass its just harder and as this song sez never goes, think coz theres a place in ur heart once broken never gets healed nit kills, but one thing ive come to know is now brother twin s together again n rob ul never have that which was killing who you were wont have it ever ever again for side by side now together forever along with andrew n family. So all the praise and respect and acclaim will be the highest as gods song angels,😢😢😢 boy we miss the very u two we came to know. We miss you hearts broken n dear barry misses u two n lil bro andy. Bet them songs u doing up there in the heavenly realms are the very best special spectacular songs ever created n we cant wait to hear them. Love you for always oh n them photos we got n u all signed n slightly embarrassed at the time thank you two. N our barry, anyway wel treasure them but now forever till we see you again. People used to ask: Stones or the Beatles … ? I said nothing but thought to myself… neither, The BeeGees. They were so much more than a (damn good) disco band.
BC of a time span from the early 60ies till the 2000 years and bc of written and singing an incredible number of songs, smash hits, they must be No 3 after the Beatles and the Stones, when it comes to rock bands. It is unbelievable how muchg songs the Gibb Bros composed, sung and got big hits for so much other performers, so they must be no 3 !!
I sometimes wonder how it would have been if A, R and M would still have been Alive. How would they have looked like, would they have been doing records? Touring etc....So unfair they all died way too young :(
How incredibly appropriate to have Brian Wilson do the induction. Beautiful symmetry in their families. If you listen to Main Course, Saturday Night Fever and Spirits Having Flown you can hear the creativity flow like during Brian's Pet Sounds-SMiLE period. Parallel the train tracks at the end of Caroline No to the scratchy guitar in Jive Talkin' mimicking the Biscayne Bay Bridge to Brian's soaring falsetto in Don't Worry Baby and Barry's 'yeah yeah yeah' at the end of Nights on Broadway. The main difference as I see it is Brian never saw his vision through to finish and release SMiLE (until 34 years later) but the Bee Gees were able to make music until their overwhelming success backfired and the world rejected their name, genre and ultimately their music even after their music evolved. Two groups I am forever grateful for and without whom the musical landscape of the 20th century would be drastically different.
