ExPat here. Lived in FNQ for a long time, absolutely love Aussie trucks/loads/trailers, some impressive heavy haul loads there from earthmoving equipment to modules and transformers. But I now live in Alberta, Canada and we also have some huge loads here. Just saying. Generally axle weights can be heavier in Australia because up here we have freeze/thaw cycle, and the roads can't take it. But in the winter or summer here they can have massive push/pull combo's, the roadways in Canada are also generally wider thus accommodating wider loads also. Both places HAVE BIG LOADS and BIG TRUCKS. But in China they put 100+ tons on a 8x4 body truck. 😂 just dangerous and stupid.
Long story, short. Following a wide load, Central Queensland, doing 110 to 115kph in a 100kph zone. All under escort, police ect. Boys were talking on the radio, this and that, and said that this chap, was going back home that evening. I chipped in and said, "Mate, take him easy through Duaringa, as the copper there will ping you for speeding if you travel at this speed." Dead silence for a minute, Then this Officious Voice, "Who is this talking". It was Mr plod in one of the cars. Laughed for years on that one. Still am.
