With over 30 years of formal Mindfulness training, I bring experience in traditional teachings blended with my social work career of over 25 years in individual and family supports in disability services as well as human rights advocacy work in the disability sector.
I did my first 10 day silent meditation retreat in 1985, and have not looked back on this path of continuous practice. I’m a single mom and have loved doing mindfulness work with parents and families to make mindfulness accessible to challenging lives.
I’ve been very lucky to work with a great research team at Canada’s CAMH Azrieli Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, exploring ways to make mindfulness accessible for the neurodiverse community.
Before anyone can have Self-compassion, they have to know who they are. No one will achieve freedom from their vibrational discord if they first do not believe they are worthy. Meditation unites us with our True Self. Hopefully, your followers start with that Knowledge.
There is no deep symbolic meaning behind the figure 8 in this practice. It's just a nice flowing shape to smoothly focus one's attention on the inbreath and outbreath. One meditator was excited that it is similar to the autism symbol - which it could be too! :-)
This is the perfect relaxation break to have over the course of the work day. It is short enough that you can always make time for it during work but long enough to actually give yourself time to relax and recharge. Brilliant!
Hello Mike! This was a live recording during a Zoom session with about 80 or so Developmental Services workers in Ontario. Hard working folks who are so devoted to supporting people with disabilities! 🙏 Hope you’re well Mike!!
Thanks Mike! We all can use these techniques, huh? I found this one in my files from last November, and did it the other night. Yes, I have sometimes done my own meditations to see what they're like as an objective meditation experience. :--)
Sue, I was watching the RU-vid video by Dantine Sheekzo. Suzie opening up her gifts from you. I had to look up who you are because of the joy you are expressing in to the world. This precious family in Russia are so happy but many people in the world are getting joy, too. Thank you, thank you, thank you 😊 🙏 🕉 🧘♂️
What a lovely thing to say. I’m so glad you are finding the practices of benefit. May you continue to explore your practice and may your journey bring you much peace and joy. ❤️
Sue, would you be able to make more of these or longer ones? If you are open to it, I'll help by donating if you need it and I'll share this link with my friends right now in one of my support groups, ty,Sheria
Sheria I'm so sorry I didn't see this message earlier! You are clearly a strong meditator going deeper into longer practices. The longer practices help wire the brain more deeply. These shorter ones are good for touchstones during a busy day. I do hope you are doing well. Under AUDIO GUIDED MEDITATIONS there is a longer compassion track like this one here www.suehuttonmindfulness.com/
Sorry I missed this! Yes Tina - 7pm EST. We'll be there again on Friday. A member asked to start a group for people to chat and connect during the week to support each other to do this practice daily if we can - in whatever creative way we may do it! :) Here's the group: facebook.com/groups/2897025933676849/
We love you, Sue! You are such an incredible human being. You embody the calm, kindness and love that you teach us. What a special mentor and friend to all of us who are fortunate to learn from you.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Sue .... it always good to have confirmation of what I am trying to do too....goes well with loving kindness meditations:) I am learning to become a MBSR teacher at the moment ....so very timely
