Hello, I am Lady Aska and I am here to help you to get the best out of your Vroid models! On this channel I focus on tutorials to help you navigate through Vroid Studio and Unity. So you and your model can give the best performance.
I want to give a little heads-up here, for anyone trying the solution with hair made tails: You still have to attach your tail first in Unity! So the whole thing with the bone weight transfer plugin and moving the tail-bones manually to the hip, has to be done FIRST, before you start animating! Also the way your bones are set up with the tail and the way the flow and weight was configured in Vroid, will influence how the tail moves. (you can see in my example, that it looks quite weird, because I didn't make the tail specifically to be animated) All that to say: The new tail feature is quite awesome for animation! It gives you everything ready-to go! And the result looks quite charming (especially if you are better at animating than I am xD)
Hi! You're one of the few youtubers that actually reply to each comment, so I'm going to try my luck... qwq I've made several accessories with the hair tool in Vroid studios, and the head ones are fine, I've added bones and everything. The issue comes in with the belt accessory I made. I need to change the root to the waist and if I understand correctly, that has to be done in unity. The only time the univrm actually worked and appeared in the upper tab area was with the newest versions of both unity and univrm, and the others I tried after didn't work. And then, I can't use the newest versions because they aren't compatible with vseeface and I am going insane. Please let me know if you have any fixes or step by step guides on this! Thank you :)
@@thecat4415 Exactly, you need to change the hair bone (of the belt) to the hip in Unity. For that you’ll need another plug-in as well, called the bone transfer plugin. If you look at one of my recent tail videos, I should have a set of versions there, that you can use. (They should be the exact ones listed otherwise you will have compatibility issues). Also make sure, that you exported correctly (as vrm0 and “delete transparent meshes” and “combine hair mesh” turned off) If you follow the tutorial, you should be able to attach your belt as needed. In case it doesn’t work at all, feel free to to message me me directly on Discord (ladyaska), so I can assist you further ☺️
@@LadyAska Hi again, thank you so much for the reply!! I've tried, and redownloaded using the versions in that video, but it comes up with this error for bone weight transfer tool: "The type or namespace name 'VRM' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" Also, will this version of unity allow the model to be used in vseeface? Thank you so much for the help, I'm sorry but I don't have discord! :( EDIT: I also did them in order, the univrm first then the bone transfer tool, but it still didn't work even in a new project
@@LadyAska Update: It worked! I used your animated ear tutorial for the downloads and I got it in unity and everything worked perfect :D Thank you!! It's not exporting to VSeeFace though, do I need the SDK plugin for that? Won't a vrm itself work fine?
@@thecat4415 Its a bit strange, but try exporting it over the sdk option, just to see if that gives you at least a working model for now :) It should work over the VRM0 option though, as usual. With that you should be able to open it in VSeeFace. (honestly I never had a vrm that didn't open in VSeeFace...it may have not been working correctly, but it would open regardless) So I guess your problem may still be another one, after all. In case its still acting weird, really feel free to message me on Discord, because I don't always see messages here (RU-vid only tells me about the first resonse, but I have to check for further responses manually ^^')
coincidentally, the last comment before you is from 3 months ago, and I was also looking for something about this right now. I hope it goes well. (using it for VRChat)
I'm extremely confused, how did you get the hair object to show all the layers like that? I did exactly what you did (re: clicking on the asset I'm trying to unhook from head tracking,) and it showed everything as one unit, no individual hairs, and the hair layer wouldn't expand
I figured out a way to swap between animated texters and still ones First when you're making the textures make it twice as big as the original so for instance if you wanted to swap between animated eyes and non-animated ones instead of having the eyes 1024 x 512 have it 2048 x 1024 then go to any video editing software And place whatever animation you wish on the texture and keep the other one untouched after that follow the rest of the tutorial and when you make the new material changed shader to vrm/mtoon and then go to uv coordinates and put tilting as .5 for x and y and offset is how you will change between the textures by variables of 0 and .5 Hope this helps someone if needed I can try to answer questions
ive rewatched this vid so many times. Tryin to get my tail to move and it doesnt work. Figured maybe it only works on the ears. Still no. Now tryin to figure out what went wrong. Downloaded the right files and did all the steps. Exported to vseeface and then it doesnt move.
@@CosmicTheShiba If you still can't figure it out, feel free to message me on Discord. (ladyaska) I am sure we can get it to work. I will be working on the tail animation video today, so maybe we both can learn something there :)
@@CosmicTheShiba Ok, update: I ran into the same problem, apparently the tails need a special type of prep before this can work. Will work on it during the next days and the new video will reflect that then. :)
As a mobile user, what kind of topics would you be interested in? :) Maybe I can find a few cool workarounds for mobile too, so you guys can upgrade your Vroids as well!
@@shivangipriya4153 Hello! This is not a tracking app, but an app for posing. If you want to add tracking via VSeeface and send poses over to there, you usually have to check for an option that only affects the body, but not the head. (there are usually a few options to choose from, if I remember it, I could check later to let you know) 🙂 I am at work atm, so don't have access to VSeefaces interface atm.
Ok thank you for your reply. I thought can make it speaking on this app. However, I can do make the character speaking as I have private program which I can do anythings .. if you need help, you are most welcome.
Thank you for your tutorial! This is really helpful <3 Can you do tail animations with this method too? I managed to made the ears animation but for some reason it doesn't work with the tail at all. The animation in Unity looks fine but it won't play on VseeFace I don't know why :c
@@Suika-X hm, how weird. It should work the same way actually. I know of many people who use tail animations. Are you using the old method of tails or the new Vroid ready tails (accessories) ? That would be really helpful and then I can look into it ^^b
@LadyAska Yeah I saw a few tutorials of tail animations and they seems to use this same method so I don't know what's the problem. I'm using the new tail accessory. Maybe it will work if I use a tail made of hair?
@@Suika-X Yeah, you should at least try that one time, because I suspect the new tail bones are different then the ones used for the hair tails...but that may be a good topic for a video too ;)
My solution, when opening the model in unity in the secondary below the hairs there are the scripts, I deleted the one referring to the tail and it started working without errors
@@Ipsiel If you get it to work as of now, this is already incredible. (So far anyone reported back that they can’t get it to work anymore, including me :/ )
@@LadyAska It takes a couple of tries but I followed your Tutorial. Including the specific version of Unity. The length of the video is how long it animates for unfortunately. Do let me know if you know how to make it loop. 😊
This is an older video. I do have a question how can you see yourself as your record through obs? When I record I can't see my avatar. Is there a way to see it or not?
@@HaiyaEnaOtaku-lb8up It's older, but honestly nothing changed. You can usually see your avatar in the OBS preview. But that is only useful, if you have a second monitor, where you can have OBS on one and whatever content you are recording on the other. BUT, if you want an avatar on screen and are using a .vrm, I recommend using VMagicmirror as a tracker. The software is free and you get to see your avatar on your screen at any given time, which can be super useful during recordings. Just make sure that whatever other content is recorded goes over a specific window and not over the screen recording. (otherwise you could see yourself double ^^')
@@S4v4ge_Wraith So far we don't have any default wings sadly. What you could try is to find a premade 3D pair and add this to your model in Unity. (that may sound intimidating at first, but would just be copy/pasting them in the right place and resizing/moving them wherever you want them to be :) ) I should have a tutorial too as to where you could find free 3D assets.
I would love to have an updated version since the recent version look nothing like this. there istn even a tool menu :< even if i find the menu .. what on earth are source bones
@@inory5460 There is an updated video on this, which you should find pretty on top of the video section :) If there are any further questions you have, after watching that video, feel free to contact me over discord (as I might miss answers here…RU-vid isn’t that well made, when it comes to notifications on comments that respond to comments 😓) My handle there is ‘ladyaska’
YES! If you use HanaTool, you get some additional sliders and Blendshapes...if you use Arkit for tracking (like on MeowFace/android or Ifacialmocap/iphone), you could link that Blendshape (like brow up) to your animation, meaning whenever that Belndshape triggers, the animation triggers as well. For people without Arkit Blendshapes, you can do it whenever you say the vowel "A" (as an example) or any of the other Blendshapes that get triggered automatically. So yes, you can link these animations with Blendshapes that exist already and whenever they are triggered, the animation would trigger as well ^^b
@@shivangipriya4153 These would be better add after in Unity. You can actually find one tutorial here that talks about where to get free 3D assets that you can use with your model. But this specific tutorial isn’t helpful. You can also make accessories with the actual hair tool. (I will note that down for future tutorials)
Great video, I'm amazed that you don't have thousands of subscribers already. 😢 Anyway, thank you for your videos, just began to looking around and already clarified several doubts ❤ So, let's do this in a orderly manner and study them one by one 😂
@@cuyovirtuoso Thank you so much! If you ever need some clarification, don't be shy to reach out on Discord. (ladyaska) I can see in hindsight that I sometimes missed some details or made something not clear enough. :)
this has been quite informative , jw do u know how if the toggles will work or know how to set up if i use Warudo? its the program i use instead of vseeface
@@BluekittieVT I didn't start using Warudo yet, but from what I got, Warudo can even do cooler stuff, like triggering things like animations or Blendshapes based on programmable actions. (not just the common triggers, like VSeeface) You are in for a treat for sure! :)
I have to say this. Thank you for this. While I don't use this for tails, it helps out a LOT with making stuff for body horror Vtubers and Robots. Again thank you so much.
This is great thank you 😊 will I be able to use these toggles in Vrchat? I know I have to export for vrchat and have done that before. But only with one outfit.
I was never able to test this. But if you are able to toggle 'normal' custom created blendshapes in VRChat, then these should yheoretically work too. If you try it, let us know how it went :)
@@kau_chan_plays Not that I know of so far. But Evelyn (the developer) is very responsive on Twitter (her handle is @ElvCatDev) If you ask for reasonable changes, she may implement it in an update upfront or explain to you why something isn’t possible.
Sorry for the dumb question, but how do I buy the HanaTool? I have a Pixiv account and can go all the way to the "Confirm payment details", but it does not allow me to click the "Pay" option at the end.
That is a really weird problem...I am also using PayPal, but never had that problem before. Maybe its a country thing? (like where your PayPal is located) Like I can use the one from Germany just fine, while my friends from Brazil can't use theirs for these type of payments (but thats just a guess ^^")
@@LadyAska I guess that must be it. I'm trying to purchase it from Brazil. I will see if I can try other payment methods, thank you for the tip! Also, thank you for the amazing video!
i don't know what i am doing wrong. I have the transparent meshes off and did everything you said to do in the video. I can't get the vrm1.0 model to import on the univrm 0.92 and i am using 2019.4.31f1 as i want to use vseeface. I still get the vertices message
Of course, because you shouldn’t use vrm01 for this. It’s not quite supported yet by the plugins. Try to export your model from Vroid as vrm0 and then try everything again :)
Make sure that you have the right versions of Unity and the univrm plugin installed. If the versions listed in the description don’t work for you, then I recommend to use Unity 2019.4.31f1 with univrm 0.92.0 (this is one of the most stable builds I know of
When you say "activate", what exactly do you mean by that? Usually if wings have animations, you can try to add them as Blendshapes...but you don't need HanaTool for that. If a wing doesn't have an animation, you could check, if you can make one yourself, right there in Unity. (depending on the type of wings, of course) Butterfly type wings would be no problem, simple angel wings would be fine too, but for more complicated ones, like opening up and closing, lije actual wings, this would have to be done in Blender beforehand (if the asset was made in Blender that is. HanaTool has nothing to do with it and as far as I know, only works for the face :)
I get SO many errors after importing both packages. i've used all the same versions of things as you have listed. can't even get the top bar to have VRM as an option. nor can i find a bone weight transfer option
Yeah, I heard it’s going pretty bad atm. I don’t know what Unity did, as nothing else changed. I also get a lot more errors as of late. I am using atm the old Unity version 2019.4.31f1 with univrm 0.92.0 and even with a few errors it usually works
@@LadyAska i got things to work, but the transfer never told me if it finished and the next step wasn't needed, since i tested and the tail works fine. at least i have a way that works though.
Awwn, thats so sweet of you! I am working on a comeback! (I had just a lot of unexpected stuff happening q_q) If everything goes well, I could be back as early as next month. :)
Yeah, it seems vrm1 is not fully established yet, even the HanaTool devs, who had rolled out a version 5 for 1 specifically, recommend their old version more. I'd say give it a bit more time and the programs should catch up. Until then, we have to stick to vrm0 for now, just make sure to select that during export and get the right univrm version for it. This is at the moment just the most supported format.
