Wife and I separated, but through some miracle, we started hanging out again. I feel like i have been a loser all my life, and because of my decisions and lack of decision, I feel I made life difficult for my wife and one year old kid. Now I am in the process of swinging the pendulum to my favor, working hard for my certs, losing weight, improving my communication. I feel this song speaks to what my wife is internally communicating with me, that she and my son depend on me. Its my job to make sure they have a great life filled with love, security, and purpose. Pray that I may give them that with all of my imperfections and false persecutions. Pray that love perseveres in a world dead set against it.
A message to my future self: Hey dude, how's it going? As of writing this, you was nearing the end of your second year of university. Wild right? I'm amazed I made it this far. Two more years of this course and I'll be well on my way to turning my passion into a career. Though, if all goes well, you know all of this because it already happened. I'm writing this as of that one week where you lived off of nothing but rice and porridge left over in the cupboard because you were broke. Yeah, maybe you shouldn't have bought baldurs gate 3 and helldivers 2 back to back, but whatever, today it ends and we're getting McDonalds. I genuinely hope things are good for you, regardless of when you end up reading this post in the future. No pressure if it's not going too well, I know life can be a bitch sometimes, and I know you've been through a lot of shit to get where you are now. Probably more than I've been through to get where I am now anyway. Hell, that's probably why you're listening to this song right now, isn't it? Still just randomly thinking about the world ending? Yeah, me too. But it's not happening any time soon, at least on my end. If it is on yours, I hope you try to enjoy the time you have left. You've made mistakes, some worse than others, but everyone has. All you can do is keep playing your hand as you draw new cards. It's okay to blame yourself from time to time, but don't let those feelings consume you. Use them as motivation to do better in the future. And don't worry about life yet, you're still young. Or at least, I'm still young, i dunno about you. But hey, if you're under 40 you're young in my eyes, you've got time. Mum didn't go back to uni until she was in her mid 40s after all. You've got time, and lots of it, so stop worrying about the inevitable. To quote Persona 3 Reload (I wonder if you ever finished/remember that game), Trepidation doesn't stop death, but it does stop life, so get out there and burn your dread.
