Hello, If you could send us an email to our inbox sales@energy-solutions.co.uk we could provide you with some more information on this matter. We look forward to hearing from you!
All models are not Bluetooth enabled. I messed up and wanted a SMART model but was given a NON-SMART model (12/24/15amp). When I tried to input my serial number into the appropriate spot on Victron's website it didn't recognize it (maybe they don't sell this model anymore). Big difference between Smart and Non-Smart...get the Smart models.
Can't believe you guys are suggesting using gas when there are a tonne of smart electric solutions out there, especially for international, sunnier climes.
Could I ask what the relative merits are for installing an RS48/6000 and RS450/200 DC charging system for a domestic solar installation versus 4 individual Smart MPPTs. I have 43 x 470W panels and am trying to decide if extra €1400 is worth spending. The RS units work fine with long series panel strings(slightly easier to install). However I can mix parallel and series to work with a 150/70, 250/70 and 2 x 250/100TRs and that saves 1400. The advantages I see for lower cost option are price, ease to replace failed module, low start up voltage, ability to oversize a specific PV array on 1 mppt (as PV array is N face). What I am missing form my considerations is the 1400 of benefits that might come if I opt for installing the 2 RS units instead . Maybe you can help ..
I have the same issue when looking at these RS 450 units. Their input current limits being so low that you can't run any strings in parallel just cripples them to the point where the smaller cheaper MPPT boxes can in practise handle just as many panels at a much lower cost. I don't understand what the RS 450 is supposed to be for.
I've had the 150/85 model for a few days now. I have problems with the absorption mode with a full battery bank and an full sunny day. I have 6 260w solar panels total max 1600w at 125v The battery voltage gets too high, not 28.8v but 29.2 to 29.6v resulting in overcharging of the battery bank. I have shortened the absorption time from 6.5 hours to 1½ hours via the bluetooth app. Is this a known issue. How can I solve it.
Need conversions if this video is to make sense to non-UK people. As is, watched the whole thing, and as a regular consumer got nothing out of video. What is cranking amp draw of motor at 0 and 100 degrees C? Which battery is able to start motor at each of those temps? What are the Cold Cranking Amps of each battery? What is the cost per CCA adjusted for estimated life of battery? (Battery has 400 CCA, costs $100, est. life 4 years, $25/400 CCA per year) Batteries die in the winter and summer. People are trying to buy best battery for all conditions. CCA is what starts the car in Winter. Car will only use what it needs, no harm to get more CCA. Having more Amps than needed prohibits electronics from starving (lights, winch, fridge, etc...) when peak loads demand more. This helps those devices last longer. Ever since changing to a min 800 CCA battery 30 years ago (usually several hundred more than OEM), I have not had any problems starting in Winter/Summer months and no electronics "wear out" (besides bulbs of course) prematurely. I would like to know if any of these new battery types can best a 900 CCA 12V Lead Acid battery for at least 5 years. - That is the useful info customers are looking for.
I worked at Alaska Diesel Electric as a field service technician, test cell, production supervisor and finally a pricing analyst/production scheduler. I worked on hundreds of these and tested thousands….Komatsu blocks with ADE marinization. Hired while still in the Army at Ft. Lewis prior to retiring. Was great while the Johnsons were in charge and then he passed and Lorraine sold it to Valley Detroit Diesel.
Hi Christie, yes we can - would you be able to email us directly on sales@energy-solutions.co.uk with as much detail as possible, engine size currently, cruising requirement, solar array capacity etc? Then we can work on a specific solution for your boat. Look forward to hearing from you. ES
A couple of questions. Would this unit be good for a SHTF situation ? I know sounds odd, it is a pipedream more than anything. It would require a lottery win, but there is a small holding up for sale near where I live, I would love it, but want it equipped with alternative off grid power, etc just in case . So, I am planning, just in case my numbers come up. The property has a South facing balcony, about 30 ft long and my idea was to link one of these units to the solar panels to keep the battery topped off and if need be, the house can be switched from normal mains to the power in the unit. I am concerned about the mains power in the UK being taken down by Cyber strike or just "normal" outages, such as weather (snow on the power lines, blown local transformer, etc) so would want to build in off grid alternates if I could. As said, it is a pipedream, but I wouldn't want to waste money and would prefer British built, as this seems a good idea for the "prepper" community as a back up, if they have the space and money. I know that is sounds nuts to most, but being of the "prepper" persuasion, I like to have back ups and back ups of back ups for everything, as we say. 3 is 2, 2 is 1, 1 is none.
