The Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) serves society through education and research about the history of life on Earth.

Located in Ithaca NY, PRI and its two public venues for education, the Museum of the Earth and the Cayuga Nature Center, are separate from, but formally affiliated with Cornell University, and interact closely with numerous University departments in research, teaching, and public outreach.

This channel serves to help us in our educational mission to increase environmental literacy, and encourage wise stewardship of the Earth.

good lecture but you are behind the curve. We aren't just "toying" with the Earth's climate. Some of the tipping points of no return are right on us now, or even already passed. There is no breathing time or delaying time any more, And we are currently doing nothing effective about it I'll be interested in your next video, and what you say in a couple of years.

but we are running the hothouse experiment, unintentionally. As you say, we dug too deep and awakened and released a monster from the past. The massive deposits of fossil fuels. It's not going to end well.

why are very few people talking about marine cloud brightening? This would involve a bunch of ships in the oceans sucking up sea water and spraying it as a fine mist. This might help cool the Earth. Apparently if fine enough, the spray lasts a long time as milky white clouds that would increase the albedo. Needs researching.

Here I feel quite cheated. No result was shown from the experiment. The physics teacher dumps the student. Unless the video is a sarcastic representation of how WOKE conducts lazy science.

Lesson ONE for paleontologists and geologists should be the explanation of the catastrophism theory. This theory is based on the findings of the French naturalist and paleontologist Georges Cuvier around the year 1800. During the excavations when making roads through France, he discovered the fossils from land and sea creatures in the same layer, strata. But also in the layer on top of that and the one below. So he concluded that the planet Earth is suffering from a recurring natural disaster where flooding must cover a large part of the land even on high places. But I assume that this theory is neglected because nobody could think of the possible cause of regular floods. Ancient books tell us that our planet Earth is suffering from a cycle of seven natural disasters. The only possible cause of such a cycle can be a celestial body that orbits our sun in an eccentric orbit. Than that body, planet, will be close to the sun for a short while and disappear in the universe for a long time. That celestial body is also mentioned and even depicted in many ways. The Aztec Sun stone is a warning for this event.Abundant and compelling evidence about this cycle of natural disasters and many images are available in the eBook: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". Global warming has been dead at about 1°C since 1992. Global warming is tracked by official averaging. This video contains the UN Climate Change disclaimer. Global warming was officially stated at 1.1°C in 1991 and 1.06°C in 2022. There is no mechanism that would allow greenhouse gas behavior to cause global warming. The back of the United Nation's IPCC science report states it took its greenhouse gas samples at 20,000 meters altitude where it is common high school level knowledge there is no greenhouse radiant energy. This is typical practice for deceptive marketing to state legal data transparency protecting the perpetrators from fraud prosecution. Earth's greenhouse effect is frequently used as a primary example to high school students of a system always in saturation from the strong greenhouse gas water vapor absorbing all the greenhouse radiant energy from the earth with greenhouse gases within 20 meters of the surface that is all around us everyday and can't have its overall effect changed. There is no further greenhouse radiant energy to interact with greenhouse gases. At 1% average tropospheric water vapor over 99% of earth’s greenhouse effect is from water vapor. Water vapor would hold earth's greenhouse effect in saturation if it were the only greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. Arctic warming is taking place with the proving mechanism being warm Atlantic Ocean waters migrating deeper and more frequently into the Arctic Ocean warming it and the region. That warmer water is causing a few weeks less of reflective snow and ice coverage resulting in more solar heat gain to the Arctic region surface. Atmospheric CO2 levels of 1200 ppm about three times what they are today would greatly invigorate C3 plants the majority of plant life on earth greatly greening the planet. 0.4% of the atmosphere is CO2 and on average 1% is H20 water vapor. (1% H20)/(0.4% CO2) = 25. Water vapor is 25 times more present in the atmosphere on average than CO2. Water vapor has an CO2e of 18, 18 X 25 = 450 CO2e total for water vapor to 1 CO2e for CO2. The Earth’s oceans have 3-1/2 million sea floor volcanic vents warming the water and changing it’s chemistry that have not been systematically accounted for.

The anomaly temperature varied between -3.7 °C and 2.5 °C the past twelve thousand years according to the graph at [1:29]. That's a lot more variation than we have seen since 1880 [1:43]. This is not made clear when the data is compared at 2:14.

As an engineer I've worked with statistic analysis since 1982 and I would call this manipulation. One way of presenting the data better could be to compare several parts of the isotope data from the latest 12,000 years to the NOAA data using the same time and temperature scales.

I know that this is 3 years old but thank you! This solved our mystery! For three years since we moved to our current home, I wondered why there was this small group of bees, which I assumed were bumble bees, hovering around our mailbox near the road. I would cut the grass around them, weed wack .. they didn't bother me at all.. they just stayed there.. Usually it was one hovering, then a few would come in and they would chase each other.. then I saw two mating .. but all summer any time I would go out there by the mailbox, I would see 3-4 just hanging around. Assuming they were bumble bees, this year I showed my wife and she was really curious. We Googled it and ended up here. I think they are living in the old wooden poles that hold our mailboxes up, but never saw one enter or leave anything,, I only see them hovering haha. After watching them closely, they're definitely carpenter bees! Thanks for this informative video! New Sub!

I did basically the same experiment in a similar controlled laboratory environment. However, my source of energy was not a heat lamp, but instead the sun. I had two sets of data, one from the control chamber, and the other from the experimental chamber. I repeated over and over again with identical results. I ran the two sets of data through a T-Test for significant differences. I could say there were no significant differences, but that would indicate that there was a difference, albeit too small to be significantly significant. Based on my data, the truth is there was no difference at all. Period. What is the problem here

There are bees all over outside my apt complex that does have untreated wood in a few places. They look all black AND fuzzy so I'm more confused than ever about what kind they are. I know there's a lot of them & seem to live in the wood.... just wish they'd quit flying in my face and my dog's faces! They almost bit one the other day! Or maybe ate one would be more accurate? Idek!!!

I live in a state with a bottle bill, and didn't realize until recently that only 11 states have them. Bottle bills work, providing both a cash incentive to recycle - and - automatic pre-sorting of plastic so that the recycling stream isn't clogged with un-recyclable plastic.

It's definitely disturbing how much single-use plastic we use every day. We need legislation and consumer pressure to get plastic producers to take more responsibility for the waste. But I definitely agree that it's critical to figure out how to use less plastic to begin with.
