I'm a tapper and I hear music in 1/16th notes and shorter. I'm trying to expand my conception of percussion and you do a great job breaking it all down. And I thoroughly enjoy that you talk to the beat. 😊
Hey! Idk if you will see this or not but we are currently working on the show music for our drumline at Rancho Starbuck and I am the Tom drum player. It's been four years since you posted this video and some things have changed. Maybe sometime you could re-visit Rancho on one of our practice days and watch us play. Also, I love your videos!
great job! I am new at drums and I do better with examples. it would be nice to see what what's on the board sounds like more. Thanks for this video. Great job.
Late ass question here but… what’s the significance of putting a rest on the sheet instead of just a space or nothing? Could you just leave the space blank to denote a rest or no?
Not necessarily because while writing a sheet in 4/4, for example, you have to make sure each measure is filled up with 4 quarter notes worth of SPACE, wether it be played notes or rests to fill up empty space. Also when writing out music the space between each note doesn’t make a difference. You can have 2 quarter notes far apart from each other (indicating you want a rest in between that) but the person reason the music won’t understand it unless you have an ACTUAL rest written in between it.
This wonderful story you told us viewers reminds me when I first went back home from college not so long ago. I visited my maternal grandma to catch up with her and ask we were talking, she give me one of her rosary. I told her that I have no practical use for it, but she insist on giving it to me because she believes that the lord will guide me to right direction and help me through tough times. At the time, I was at the lowest point in my life (struggling in classes, being home sick, etc.) and hearing that comforted me and gave me a push of determination. After that fateful day, things seemly gone better and I was no longer feeling any amount of negativity. Now I hang my grandma’s rosary proudly next to my bed as a constant reminder that the lord and everyone I care about got my back. Just like my grandma, I glad that a mentor figure like Jackson had impacted you’re life the way that it did and I hope you continue being a great and inspiring person that you are.
