I find the Broncolor Para easier to move with the power cord correctly located through the aperture in the envelope - trip hazard and possible damage to both the Para and the light can occurr easily if not - and you can get a power cord shadow across the frame - c'mon guys do it properly
yes, Urs, at 27:42 that's why Hasselblad H's are so easy to use to, a principle, simple menus and easy to just pick up and use, some custom functions, but in the main all the stuff you need to get access to 90 % of the time, its up front, and easy.
great explanations but a question, with the lights used on each, can either pack use any light?, ie, if you upgrade from an early pack, can you use its lights (picolite, Pulso G) or are the sockets pack specific.
Most of the packs and lamps are compatible, sometimes there are limitations with the modeling light. Please see the compatibility chart with all details: broncolor.swiss/assets/img/Kompatibilit%C3%A4tschart_August-2023.pdf
Hi Urs. Enjoying this new series of videos. One question, I understand that by moving the light source closer it increases the relative size of the source and as a result less lighting power is required, resulting in a reduction of the intense highlights on the spectacles. Increasing the ISO would also mean that less light power would be needed, could this be an alternative if the light source could not be moved closer or would it not have any impact on the intensity of the highlights. Thanks. Andrew.
Hi Andrew, “Cheating” with a higher ISO value will not work here. This simply compensates for the lower power setting on the strobe. To lower the intensity of the highlights you really have to bring the light closer - or make the light shaper bigger at the same distance.
Suggestion for next video, if you could please make sure that the cursor from his screen is captured in this video too, this will really speed up the explanation and will make it further effective !
This is a Gold mine for a product photographer ! Thanks Urs for making this video :) , will be eager to see more such videos with BTS ! Thanks Broncolor !
Thank you very much for this webinar, lots of food for thought! I'm intrigued about the setup with two white panels and 3 lights (behind, main and filling). Are you using the three reflectors without any modification?
great discussion, but a question, as the Dedo light system is getting more prolific, and such things as Light bridge and CRLS (mirror based, reflected lighting) can these work off the Fresnel lens adaptor for this light?, to do macro and studio product shooting.
With “Dedo System” you refer to the broncolor Picolite right? Sure, you can use reflector-based lighting tools with Picolite but be aware, that the light angles are very precise and sometimes very narrow, so it is questionable, if you have enough “side-light” to be reflected.
at 18:19 can that glare on the glasses, and the soft box spot be removed with a c-pl filter?, like landscape shooters do?, as a way of removing the unwanted light, but keeping the size of the soft box, and hence the budget (of the photographer!, and the client)- as you use less expensive gear.
Urs, what head have you got behind the soft box, and what pack?, as we don't know what the light quality is for each head/power pack, also what head/pack is advised for what size modifier?
