Rock n roll man! I love LOTR and folky fingerstyle so unfortunately everything I play sounds really jolty because of the spacing needed on the fret board!
@@ramona8622 Well I'm not sure about vulnerability as it doesn't cost anything to upload it. I would say showing reality helps in the world we live in. Thanks for tuning in by the way and may your weekend be filled with pasta!
You brought so much life to this Sharon character 😂 I love the little mannerisms you gave her, such as being confused with Larry/Gary's name, and even trying to include Sheila and her slightly undercooked cakes 😂 even the bit with her trying to think of the right phrase around 1:45, that was great She just sounds like a sweet old Northern lady~ Incredible job, miss! Also, whoever drew Sharon did amazing! She has a lovely design ☺️✨
That's super cool Danny. You are clearly a super bright spark! I had to start Spanish with a teacher online and German at school in Year 9-sixth form but I was terrible. Ten years later I've tried to continue. Right now its on the backburner as I've got 39384744 things to do. Such is life!
Sehr gut gemacht Jen!
"Goals are fine but they never give you what you want." Thank you I needed that. I learned English through having fun and discovery but as soon as I started German, all I could think about was reaching B2 and all I got from it was postpoing studying sessions, feeling lazy cause it was no longer engaging and losing the sight of why I'm learning the language at the first place. Now I'm gonna start again and learn German just like I did with English. I Hope you have fun with your journey and I hope the same thing for myself too
Hey, thank you for responding to our questions in the comments!! I have a question please, I'm reading a lesson everyday, but I don't feel I'm quite learning... yes I know a bunch of words now, and if I read the past 5 lessons I can understand what the text is saying... but as I said I don't really feel I'm learning, is that a normal feeling?? Oh, and is reading enough??? I mean do I need to do analysis on every word I see in the text; "what it's meaning, or what does this correlative do and why is it here" and so on and so forth.. I really appreciate your help!! thanks!🙏🙏🙏
Hello friend, give yourself some grace and plod on. Not sure there is a right way to do it, I reckon when it gets to a certain point maybe more dots will connect or perhaps they won't. As long as you're keeping up and doing it your way- you're doing it right! I am no expert, I'm a total numpty so keep going!!
Yes, would recommend a real life human teacher and the B1 Goethe study book. This wasn't a quick fix, it took a long time. I just found that it helped me revise before the exam by having a structures 100 days to find the curiosity in learning again! Good luck my friend!
I speak several languages for various reasons and I always keep learning new ones while refreshing the ones I already know (this year I am learning Italian and refreshing my German). I always liked a combination of: - Pimsleur (just Vol. I) 1 month, then Assimil, - 1-2 RU-vid Channels with Teachers you like (after lesson 40-50 of Assimil) - Tandem or HelloTalk language exchange Apps, - 1 hour a week online Teacher (after lesson 60-70 of Assimil) - Podcasts at a later stage. That is all, no need to spend too much money or get crazy with many tools or books. KEY: everyday 30-45 mins minimum, have the audios available in your mobile to listen to them hundreds of time while ironing, cooking, walking, commuting, etc. Do NOT scape more than 1 day a week. At the beginning, essential is to get the phonetics right using IPA phonetic transcriptions as guidance and having available a native speaker (of your target language + accent) to help you correct / improve the sounds. As an example students should make an effort to be able to pronounce the word brother as /ˈbrʌðər/ and not /ˈbrʌdər/ or in Spanish dedo (finger) /ˈdeðo/ and not /ˈdedo/. Forget Duolingo, Babbel and any other similar App method as it is too slow.
Hi Jen, Nice stories about your guitar journey - sounding good! I have been practicing and slowly getting better on guitar and even starting to make some guitar-noodle creations which may someday become songs (when my confidence singing and playing improves).. Nice songwriting! Keep playing, creating and sharing the joy :)
No, I used lots of different teaching groups, one on ones. All sorts. But this gave me a way to pracise everyday before the exam in a fun structured method as well as the tonnes of work!
Hallo, Jen!
Congratulations!! Such good marks as well! Other than assimil what books did you use for grammar? & similarly what did you use for listening exercising?
@@jenniferc23 oh darn! I had a feeling that might have been the case. It's a bit pricey to order separately but I think I'll treat myself. Your videos have inspired me to keep going with German - thank you so much :)
That's class to hear Will! I've actually kicked myself up the backside and will be trying to follow my passion of comedy and acting rather than German so I probably won't be putting any new German content on here. What I will say is that I would heartily recommend spending on a proper teacher who is native to the language and who has taught before. It gave me so much confidence and she was brutal as well which kicked me upeth the backsideth!@@willg1424
I'm trying all sorts including one to one, group classes with Lingoda and a grammar book. It's probably the hardest thing I've had to learn (not speaking any other languages already)..comedy sounds good but of course you can include some German :P
Keep going and compare yourself to yourself last week or month, not to anyone else. So much online makes it look like people breathe out in a new language instantly, but its nonsense. Anyway, vielleicht auf Deutsch, mal sehen...@@willg1424
Hi, Great video. Would you please share the link to the Assimil book as well and also what other resources did you use to pass the B1 exam. I am really struggling with learning German and would highly appreciate any advice you could give.
Morning my friend, B1 Assimil German book helped me revise three months before: www.amazon.co.uk/German-Approach-English-Ease/dp/2700508297/ref=sr_1_1?crid=23N31NO6654Q0&keywords=assimil+german+b1&qid=1703324387&sprefix=assimil+german+b1%2Caps%2C76&sr=8-1 I had a weekly lesson with a teacher for around a year before that which helped me build up some foundational things I'd forgotten from a decade ago. Then I joined a group Goethe class then a couple months before I had a individual class. So lots of practise, lots of chatting to people on the Tandem language app too.
Awesome, thank you for the comment. Well, I think like everything its practise... And finding ways to make words stick in your head. It can be a bit odd, maybe I'll make a video about it?
Please!! 😊 It will be fantastic!! I've always wanted to know how performers do it! Do they listen to the lines a lot of times for several days? What exactly do they do memorize so many lines?? It's so impressive!
🙋🏽♀️Thanks for sharing. I apologize if I’m lost here. Is the first time I’m watching your videos. Before starting with assimil, did you have exposure or knew a little of German? Or that was the only tool you used to pass the exam? Thanks in advance for yo ur reply 👍🏼
Hello :) I did German 10 years ago at A level and got a C. I didn't really use it since, then decided to try and go back. I used lots of books, one on one lessons, Assimil and one term of Goethe free lessons (got a bursary) This was the last three months before the exams to make it fun and less stressful! (it was still stressful but felt I had a set way to practise rather than get distracted...)
My German now is a-ok. I've bought the B2 book and have been going over grammar that I'm still not confident on at all. Haven't got a set way yet, but no doubt 2024 that'll be my year! @@alamsemesta1735
Thank you very much, it takes a lot of graft and it is doable obviously. There is no magical pill. I studied when I was younger then had ten years away so some of it was lingering in my head and some never existed haha!
@@jenniferc23 That's great to hear. I've begun studying German recently and I'm using ASSIMIL as well. I used it to learn French so I figured, why not give it a shot with German!
