I've fallen utterly in love with this song. I've loved Myra Lee and Moon Pix for years, but for whatever reason I hadn't listened to Dear Sir until a few days ago. I got the idea to after watching the footage of 1995 live show at the Dotties, I believe, in Atlanta here on RU-vid. This song is hauntingly beautiful in ways I can't describe. It has a spell over me, I tune out everything when I put it on and I have images of a pained face. It's a bitter comfort.. I want to design an original character and name them after this song. What a beauty.

A high school friend and unreciprocated romantic interest was really into Cat Power and this album when it came out. We'd hang out and drive around with this on her van stereo and her blowing her Parliament smoke in all kinds of seductive ways next to me. Even though I was into all kinds of underground and indie stuff I feel like I was way too immature to appreciate an album and musician like this at the time. I was naive and she was so experienced - even jaded at such a young age. She scared the crap out of me. She moved after high school and we slowly lost touch. When I hear this music and this artist I think of her and I hope she is well. Good memories. Strange and slightly scary ones are in hindsight often the best kind.

I think you are misinterpreting this, he is talking about his voice tone not his music in general. He doesnt like his voice and its not the first time he has said this
I've been listening to her voice for about 14 years now and it's the first video I see of her. From her voice, I thought she would be mellow and relaxed but she seems so nervous and energetic here. Even so, you can tell that she is a beautiful person.
