Measure one inch on either side of center and mark it on the edge of the fabric. 3. Measure 2 inches down from the center. Mark it. 4. Hi Patricia, thanks for the comment. You are either pushing or pulling, that's the only reason the fabric will wave. It can be tricky but I suggest slowing down as the rug gets bigger. Of course now I have made 1000's of rugs so that's easy for me to say. However I do have a few Sew Along videos that are newer where I share tips that I have learned to help get a flat rug. I subbed for one reason ... it brought up so much emtion for me. This is the first video of yours I've watched. I can't believe you have a job and then made so much for your Christmas market. That's hours and hours of work. I've always been a single mom, and my job allowed me to also work at home as well as my office and the courts, and after I got my little guy to bed. I worked and worked ... always past midnight. We made it through .. somehow. My son is now 33, and I now have this colony of feral cats I'm trying to get spayed, and we are so far down on the list for prevent a litter. I have to pay our regular vet $450 for the girls. Yikes so I thought, I'll sell journals on my RU-vid channel .. wrong. I only have 100 subbies. I even did a give away and no subbies. It's the yt algorithm, so I just stopped but i.promised myself I would do all I can do to help other channels like mine to succeed. And that's to like and subscribe. When my dad was about 7 he had a pet rooster named Pete. He said that he and his father would take Pete in the house to give him a bath! This was very strange to me But, it was stranger to believe my grandmother would let it happen more than once!
I loved having chickens. One year we raised about 15 meat birds. We didn't realized how long processing them would take. lol an all day job! We were making such slow progress my husband called some friends and offered them beer if they came and helped. We had a production line going but still was after dark before we finished. Was nice to have a freezer full of chicken but hubby had enough and insisted I stop raising chickens. :(

You are amazing! I appreciate you sharing your talents with me and others. Your description of all your fabrics and details are perfect for a beginner. I am more of a quilter than crafter myself. I think these would make great Christmas gifts! Several little things..my scraps go on the floor and I have the same heavy duty machine. I love your pin cushion! I am a chicken/ rooster person. My Dad told a story his rooster named Pete that he had when he was a child. When he passed away, I found a beautiful ceramic rooster and placed it in my kitchen in honor of him!
That’s awesome Marilyn I love hearing stories like this! I am not a huge fan of red tomatoes. I think they are unattractive. I was fortunate enough to need an entire new sewing room and my husband is a contractor so I got to build my sewing room from scratch and then I only put matching things in it. I had several tomatoes given to me from quilt guild members, and I just couldn’t, I didn’t like them at all, so I made myself several pin holders which she will see in my videos in the background from time to time. Hello! Thanks for leaving a comment. I a sad you are having a hard time with curling up. You are either pushing or pulling the fabric as it sews. This is the only reason it will curl. So tear it back to where the curling starts and press the fabric. Let it cool completely and then start again. Also if you did roll the fabric into a ball like yarn you may have troubles. I am not sure where that came from but it trains the fabric to be twisted and often you leave it in a ball for a week or more and that doesn't help! I have lots of videos on this channel about the rugs, live sewing included. Try watching some of those as I have learned more over the years as well. You've got this!!! If I can get it you can too! @mimirayscraftycorner1058 oh sorry I forgot to answer that part my bad! I don’t use a walking foot personally I know that some people find it helpful. I say try it out both ways and pick the one you like that may not be super helpful but I have made over 1000 rugs and never used it.

Thanks Connie! I am not sure why it does that for some people and not others. I think it's a RU-vid glitch. Super annoying for sure but I have lot's of other sew along videos on the channel! This was when I first started RU-vid as well and I was new to all the camera set up etc. It's not perfect but I am still proud that I put my fears aside and started RU-vid.
Love the colors and you make it look so easy! I am working on a hot mess over here because although my rug is barely 10 inches and it is cupping! Help! I feel like I have eased a lot of fabric into each corner and it still wants to turn into a bowl 😢
Hello! Sorry to hear you are having troubles with the rug. I have lot's of videos on my channel with me talking you thru how to do it. Here is a link to one of more recent sew along videos. If your rug is cupping you are either pushing or pulling the fabric. Literally that's the only reason it would do it. Both the rug side and the feed in side need to go in at the same tension. I recommend buying good fabric, thick batting and having a flat surface.
