Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Sharon. I'm an American born artist based in Germany. My channel is my art journal. Join me as I explore, with different mediums and techniques to create a wonderful, whimsical world of art.
A book of poetry: how exciting! Your visual artworks are very poetic. I can't wait to see what worlds you can create with the spoken word. One copy already sold here before its written! 😊
Hi Sharon, great to see another video from you. Glad that you are up and about. That's a nice stretch routine. If I am up that early, it's because I can't sleep and so I will study a spiritual book for a bit or I have to be up to go somewhere. I wish I could slow down even more than I do now, but I can't during the week. On the weekends, it's all about slow movements. I wish I had the free mindset of a child, how I looked at the day when I was a child. Time was slower back then, back in Poland. Beautiful paintings. Wishing you best in baking, cooking, sewing. Hope you will make some videos of these. Have a good week.
Thanks so much for watching! Slowing down can take on many forms. Allowing an extra 5 to10 mins in my daily routine is very helpful. I'm looking forward to this season of slowness. I will continue to make videos when I have something to share.
@@shugalandstudios3360 Awesome. Thank you. I am trying to get back into the spontaneous kind of living I did when I was a child. No regrets. No guilt. No rushing. Just going with the flow.
I'm not a morning person! I admire people who are! Yes, stretching in the morning for my 80-year old body is very important. I love baking bread but have yet to find the perfect recipe! Your starter looks very promising! I've tried oil sticks; didn't like them at all. You seem to have found the way easily! Have fun in autumn (fall) - I love the seasons changing; not fond of summer; far too hot. I live in Cyprus.
Wow! You are 80. AWESOME. I take care of my mother in law who is 94 years old. I have to be there in her apartment to get her to stretch. Otherwise, she doesn't. Yikes. Are you an artist too?
That's awesome! My goal it to keep it moving as long as possible. I have yet to bake with my starter. Bread will be the first attempt. I'm not sure how I feel about the oil sticks yet. I definitely need more practice. Thanks so much for leaving a comment and watching my video. I really appreciate it.😊💛💛
@@shugalandstudios3360 Good luck with the baking. The only bread making I ever did was with a bread machine. I never got the lovely European crust (like the Polish bread), but when I took out the bread from the bread machine and put some honey on top of it. It was absolutely divine. Hope that you do it soon and that it will be a great success.
Hi Sharon, It is so good to see you up and about, feeling better. Thank you for sharing the slow time. Living in a big city in the USA, it's hard to do "slow". Everything seems so hurried. So, it is so nice of you to remind us to slow down and to share your beautiful stitching work. Keep on getting better. Hugs, Eve
@@shugalandstudios3360 Absolutely, I have my spiritual retreats every day and every weekend. Ha, ha. I have trained my family to make their own meals, so i am free to spend my time as I wish.
Hi Sharon, thank you for sharing your family with us and your way of honoring your ancestors. I think this is a beautiful idea. I moved away from Poland so fast, that I didn't even bring my grandparents' photos. But, back then, in Poland, photos were not as common as they were in the USA. Still I wish I had at least one photo of each of my grandparents, maternal and paternal. Hope that you are feeling better.
I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. Your works are beautiful and transcendent. I also love that textile piece with the word “Rest” (I’m not sure if it’s your work)
Hello Sharon, thank you so very much for sharing your painting process in real time. It's very interesting and educational. The woman is beautiful, but also sad.
Hi Sharon, are you feeling any better? I decided to spend my lunch time with you. We also have had quite a bit of rain, which is wonderful as it lowers the temperature just a bit. Thank you for sharing your life. When you wrote in your journal, I sneaked a peak and read what you wrote. This is 3 years ago. have you gone back to what you wrote in your "Musings" journal? Did you experience these things in your physical life? I hope so. Is this still part of your life or have you moved on spiritually? Just wondering because in my own life, I spent about 10 years in this phase of learning fearlessness, trust, stopping worries and concerns. Recently, I finally sorted the physical world from eternity.... and realized that I feel secure enough, trust enough to move onto what I call "phase 2" of my spiritual journey. I just find it interesting that I find others on their own spiritual journeys whilst doing their own thing, like you, painting and creating art in all sorts of forms and shapes. Lastly, I am glad that you don't follow any painting rules. Hurray to freedom. Heal! Feel better!
Hi there! Yes, thank you, I am feeling much better. I do go back to this particular journal from time to time. I have to admit, I have not been consistently journaling but, reading some of the entries I realize that I have changed in so many ways. I'm more confident in myself and my abilities. Making art, journaling and even filiming these videos are a catalyst for my growth mentally and spiritually.
@@shugalandstudios3360 Hi Sharon, glad to hear that you are feeling better. And, i am happy to hear about all the growth within you. Wow! That's fantastic. Yes, self confidence is the fruit of spiritual pursuit. It's been one of my fruits. Have a wonderful week.
Diggin the background music!!! Many of the "sketches" in this book need to be large prints (and paintings). Just sayin... Also, one can see how your style has evolved from your earlier work to your current style. Have you had any solo gallery shows in the states or Europe?
Thanks. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the music and the tour. Yes, I can say that my style has evolved. I haven't had any gallery shows yet, but I have participated in a few exhibitions.
Sorry that you are not feeling well; hope everything gets better soon. What a treasure of a sketchbook - a keeper for sure. Inspirational too! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for your comment and for taking the time to watch the video. I really appreciate it. Such nice comments speed up the healing process. ❤️
Hi Sharon, so wonderful to see another video from you. Yay! The wheat stalks blowing in the wind! What a memory. As a child, when I lived in Poland, I used to watch fields of wheat from the commuter train, whilst riding to see my grandparents. They looked like green sea, or a yellow sea depending on the time of year. I absolutely loved watching them. Thank you for sharing your surroundings. Very inspiring. I see that it cooled off. Yay! Thank you for sharing Gabriela Munter's work. Quite colorful. It reminds me a bit of Slava Brodinsky's art, whose work I used as a model for trying out that particular style. Beautiful new paintings. Thank you for showing how you start a new canvas. As far as I am concerned you can start a canvas ANYWAY you want to. It's your canvas, your painting.... and you give it texture anyway, so it really doesn't matter. Have a fun week.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. Your memories of growing up in Poland sound like a dream! I will take a look at Slava Brodinsky's work. Yes, I will continue to prepare my canvases the way I want to. Enjoy your weekend!
@@shugalandstudios3360 Thank you. I loved my life in Poland, but i was spared the bad times when my mother brought me to the USA in 1977. We always love what we know first. You, you life and home in the USA. Me, my life in Poland. However, I hope that you have fallen in love with Germany. I hope that you find German people kind. I am glad that you walk your own path in your art. Afterall, it's about doing what you like and what works best for you. Have a wonderful, hopefully, cool and fun week.
Lovely landscape!!! Glad you've started new painting, especially on canvas! As a curator a suggestion to artists should always prime new canvases with 2-3 coats of gesso before starting a painting. New canvas are pre-gessoed but only to the factory minimum layer. Also we never know what kind/quality of gesso was used. Adding your own layers of gesso guarantees smoother more protected surfaces and a better ground for the first applications of paint... Just sayin... Keep up the great work and videos!!!
