Hi! So this happened today. I found one of these babies dumped on the side of a garbage bin.. It's about 15 cm long, I'm from Greece and winter is setting in... Obviously I keep it indoors and I will transform an aquarium like I see in the video... Any other advice will be helpful...Thank you ❤
Can I please ask if anyone knows what to do or what to recommend about being overrun with Isapods, I’m thinking of getting them for my cleanup crew but I know they can breed quickly, and I have no other enclosures to split them between. If anyone has any tips or useful research material I’d be very grateful ☺️
Judging on her accent she is in the UK. They aren't illegal there. Only releasing them into the wild is illegal. Even in the US people in the pet trade keep them but you will get in trouble releasing them or selling them Edit: A lot of people also catch their Giant African landsnails outside in areas where they are invasive and keep them. Id argue they are doing the environment a favor by catching them and keeping them indoors
Thanks for your wonderful video! Lots of great information and you're clearly passionate about caring for your snails. I'm having a few young African snails moving in tomorrow and this is great for knowing what to expect and get started :)
Do they make alot of slime? My daughters tried keeping 2 snails that they found outside and within 2 weeks the container was so filled with slime it was disgusting. We released them where we found them.
just wanted to say, at 1:42 the video shows your snails and i see white bugs, those might be slug mites as mine looked the same and did the same, they go on the snails body and in sucking blood,so please get them treated,if im wrong correct me
i don't know to much about them, but im pretty sure it's okay, like i had millipedes and they have little bugs crawling on them all the time but it's concerning if there aren't any on them, idk if it's the same for snails
I kept my giant land snails at normal room temp. Even in winter they were fine. Lived many years and had lots of babies. Never had head mat or thermostat.
I know this is an old video, but i am ready to get a wooden repiterra terrarium and paint it with varnish so its waterproof for an albino land snail im getting in 2 months, the terrarium is 60x30x30.
About the cuttlefish being thrown away what about all the other little bugs in the enclosure if they go on that cuttlefish will they get thrown away too?😢😊
Hi, loved this really informative video. I help keep my 6yr old Daughter's Africans and garden snails. Is there any more knowledge you can share regarding snails? I get very flustered when we handle them thinking that they will make us ill if we don't wash our hands really well after handling them which puts a downer on handling time. Can you advise if I can relax more when handling them. Are they as dirty as I think they are. I don't want her getting ill from handling them and touching her face without washing thoroughly afterwards. Please help :)
How to get rid of snail eggs , Step 1, gather the eggs in a bag with some sand, Step 2, bury them in the sand somewhere, step 3, make sure it is safe, with leaves over the spot, step 4, make sure you Don't bury them in a farm or a market
I’ve been begging to know this information do Captive bred African snails still have the possibility of giving humans diseases?. I have the set up I just don’t wanna play a risky game 😅
Do you know anyone in the U.S. that raises GALS? I've been scammed once already and lost $170.00. I like the Albino achintena (my spelling sux) or as long as they will grow into the really big snails. Please let me know.
