People do not understand that the concept of pan-Africanism didn't exist and there was a high sense of individuality among the tribes as opposed to unity so it was more like a Yoruba may have been taken captive and sold by an Igbo king. In addition to this, it was not known by many Africans how the enslaved were treated, it was thought that the slavery that happened in Africa was the same overseas in the Americas I suggest you read King Alfonso I of Kongo's letter to the Portuguese.
There were Africans that sold Africans to the Europeans.... There are still Africans selling Africans to the Arabs.... Slavery has not ended it's alive and thriving throughout Northern Africa and The Middle East.
Thanks for the education. I've tried to learn the most i can about the true story of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade especially trying to see the most physical places (on video since don't got the funds to travel) i can of where they took/brought slaves. So I'm finding more and more on RU-vid. I found the most helpful videos in that goal after searching lines from "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley. Although others steal the song and make it their own and rob the world of the knowledge in the song, I eventually got over the anger of that and got to researching. The point of my comment is that of course the history is important especially for those of African ancestry and diaspora and of course will make you angry and even emotionally broken so most modern people of all races avoid it, but I'd recommend listening to and researching that song as you learn and research. It truly is a "song of freedom" and not just in a metaphorical/emotional way. Just my thoughts. Stay strong all my freedom fighters "have no fear". Bless up.
They is not only Dutch and English… it includes the African tribespeople who were fully complicit in aiding them find captives. Let’s not act like they didn’t know what they were doing. When you break free of chains, the idea is to not continue being a victim.
Nobody give a F bout them Chinese slaves tho. There was so many of them and none of em could speak English and all look the same so it was like kicking ice under the fridge.
It is time for us to rebuild our dignity, to reconstruct the black community wherever we find ourselves. And for us to do that we need to love ourselves and get united. "United we stand". We are stronger than you can imagine 💪
People did against other people you was born with a silver spoon in your mouth. Nobody did nothing to you ... its what they did to them .. not you . P. S. Black wasn't the only race who became slaves..you talk to much.
