Informative, and well presented for an area in early develpment and changing rapidly. My perspective is unusual - in 1969 at an annual meeting of USITT I presented- "Computer Aided Thearical Production" demonstrating used of computer graphics. Was published in USITT journal that year.
Thank you for this important talk. I am trying to find discussions, articles or scientific work on representation and racism in set design - meaning the design itself. Do you have any ideas on where to look? I‘m looking to understand how representation in design on screen affects the audience and how that may shape society. Are stereotypes fostered, can we change how the audience views eg protagonists of color based on the spaces we depict them in?
Took survey! Very good survey. Thanks for sharing. I wrote some specifics from both union and non-union jobs I've have had in over 30 years. I also pointed out that stagehands and designers often have 8 hour turn arounds because of work calls after actors under AEA contracts have left. This is unhealthy and dangerous, but we often create such hazards in our contracts. In believe, REQUIRING hands to work all of a load-in, rehearsals, work calls and load-out in order to work a show has been detrimental and dangerous for decades. I know others might believe we should be able to work as long and for as much money as we want. During this period of forced time off due to the coronavirus pandemic,I think in is a great time to exam many of the widely accepted and expected practices in our industries. Thanks.
David, Ebony, Roma, Xavier, Rachael, Larry, Porsche; what a phenomenal conversation. I'm grateful for the gift of your time and life experience in our field.
Hi David! We're happy to host a seminar for the institute on our apps, VirtualCallboard.com and StageStock.com. We can also invite some customers to join us to discuss how they are using digital channels to stay connected to their organizations in this unusual time. Let us know if that would be an option.
Very disappointed to not be able to come to the conference, but completely understand all the reasons. Looking forward to rescheduling for the 2021 conference. Thanks so much for your excellent communication throughout this unprecedented time. Thank you so much for all the hard work done by the USITT staff on behalf of all its members.
All power to the Staff and Board of USITT. I am very disappointed that I will not be seeing you all, but safety has to come first. I have come to most of the Conferences since the Mid 1980s and we have never been faced with such a difficult and painful decision.
Very sad, attended last years in Kentucky and was looking forward to this one all year. Board of directors made the right choice to protect our industry
Yeah, me too, (know Steve that is)...and Roscolene 828 is just that...828 forever...when in front of a good (warm) incandescent source..thanks Steve for your comments on this important matter..it is Art supported by Technology afterall
