Mine arrived last week and they are made in the PRC/China now. The one in the vid is a South African made one. With no gloves the handle is rough on the hands made worse due to the polished but dull edge of it. I did not change the edge bevel, but I did sharpen it to the same angle. After sharpening and cutting hard wood I got about 6 chops before, and it started getting dull. So, you are best off cutting green and or soft woods with it. Also, I found the chopping ability greatly reduced because it is handled heavy. The area it seemed to chop best for me was 2-3/4 inches in front of the front guard. Most machetes will have that spot about in the middle of the blade. The other use for it I think is if you don't want to have gun around is to have it in your home for self-defense. I took mine apart and am lightening it to make it blade heavy. I have replaced the heavy steel Toshiba/cos guard with a small aluminum one and doing that got rid of the brittle plastic grips which I will replace with wood.
When talking about getting through the line of jugs at the end, I caught myself saying "The sword can handle that just fine, it's a skill issue bro." And then you *did it*! well done!
Very cool for the price but I broke the handle on mine first time out. Not from lack of knowledge of using axes though, but from a 50 percent power hit into a log that split the handle almost the full length. Also I realize these are not really wood axes per say but more of "fighting" axes. Still was a little bummed how quickly I broke the handle, less the 20 minutes of use. I ended up getting a 36 inch wood cutting axe handle, with a little modification to the top of the handle and fitting the head properly, it's been holding up awesome.
This sword is crap. Mine broke within 3 hours of ownership in the hands of an eight-year old boy cutting squash on the ground. Sure, the sword was hitting the ground a bit, but the weld broke inside the pommel. This sword is beefy, actually too heavy for comfortable one-handed use, but has a severe weakness with the spot-welded threaded rod inside the handle. I am very disappointed in my purchase of this sword.
I own one. I love the knife but my sheath is crap and the tip of it had gone through it. I basically call it ky glorified kitchen knife because of the handle
The cool thing about this is it's long like a sword but it's legally allowed to be carried because it's officially a knife with only one blade. Most places you can't carry a knife with two edges or a sword
Of course. Though I would recommend using what's called a "hewing spear". Most of them have the socket extending below the lugs like a handle & cross guard while the blades are longer with a mire cut & thrust profile.
Think of a hand and half sword, it's comfortable for 2 hands, most usually weirded with 1 hand and a shield tho, this is similar, I have this one and the battle axe in the same size, 1 hand is definitely possible but not as much control as u have with the 22 inch handle, highly recommend tho and for under $40? U can't complain especially since u can j cut it down if u don't like it get a $15 replacement handle😂😂
I appreciate the close look of you holding it. Your hands seem about my size, medium, and that looks like it would be comfortable for me. I want a shorter blade to take out when i practice archery. My other swords are longswords, including a really nice Lockwood.😊
if you haven't got it, the blade is just under an inch thick like 3/8 inch or so, not bad because it tapers at the edges and has a thinner bevel, over all it feels very nicely balanced and not overly chunky as other practice swords. Decent flex, the handguard is wider than the blade is still and grip feels nice, width wise the blade is maybe 2 1/2 inch thick at the widest along the face.
